Interesting that the two groups that make heavy use of the term "sterilizing immunity" are the vaccine-hesitant as well as the forever-Coviders. They employ it for the same purpose as well - to cast doubt on the effectiveness of the vaccine.

Two sides of the same coin, really.

Are you still insisting that the vaccine makes us safe from COVID and is an impenetrable virus repelling shield? How can you stick to that position, especially after this Omicron wave, where it seemed like everyone you know, their parents, their cats, and their dogs all caught Omicron, when all of them were vaccinated? I wish the vaccine conferred sterilizing immunity but it's just not true. So the public must know that if they want to protect themselves from COVID, they need to take additional measures beyond getting the vaccine. This information cannot be suppressed because it is the plain and obvious truth. If some idiots use this to justify not getting the vaccine, then that's their fault for making a grave error in judgement.

Lots of vaccinated people may have caught it, but their symptoms were either very mild (cough, sore throat, sniffles) or nonexistent. Yes, vaccines overwhelmingly do still keep us safe. Stop spreading lies.

I similarly wear a mask and won’t be stopping soon and don’t feel much if any negative effect. Unless you are doing heavy manual labor at your job or have the lung function of a chronic smoker with half a lung, I just don’t buy the whole thing about how it’s “ruining your life”.

Again I don’t support mandates when not necessary to keep hospitals afloat (and this pandemic really highlights how important it is we address just how easily our system was overwhelmed) but the whole whining about masks on here really has been just a constant eye roll. Other measures did heavily impact lives, but this really does not with some exceptions. We can’t force people to wear masks anymore, but lmao at the whining. Also lmao at supposedly free market conservatives like Roll Loon getting so triggered over businesses…using their right to enforce things in their store.
I guess they really do like socialism!

1. I'm a staffer on Capitol Hill and it pisses me off that the complex is still closed. I can't believe you seem to not know this, but Congress is not a private business. It is one of three supposedly equal branches of the federal government, alongside the Executive and Judicial Branches. I learned that in elementary school.

2. I live in DC, which still has an indoor mask mandate everywhere. Again, a mandate that's being imposed by the city government, not individual businesses.

Polis can stay, but vote every single one of the rest out. This wave needs to be absolutely brutal and leave no corner of the country untouched. Stop the tyranny!

What about the New Rochelle tweet is of concern, aside from those masked students in the photographs? Of course, that's not a sight I'd like to see.

Bowman is the only one in that photo not wearing a mask, despite what he said in his tweet.

Okay so, they're probably planning to lift it in the spring/summer if it becomes reasonable to do so, with the emphasized statement to the public that "you should expect a very realistic chance of it returning in the fall / winter but we'll see how things evolve between now and then".

Sounds... about right?

It should never be brought back, period.

But I was told that people who took this position were basically murderers like tRUmPkin and DEatHsaNtis.

It's naive to think that the recent lifting of mask mandates even in blue states has nothing to do with politics.

I really think that the maskless photos of Garcetti and Abrams and the ridiculous excuses they tried to make were a major turning point.

Imagine where Biden's standing would be if he took cues from Polis.

Something that is probably worth repeating: The majority of the unvaccinated are probably Trump supporters, but the majority of Trump supporters are vaccinated.

Fixed that for you.

And the damage that has been done by your party demonizing science is going to be irreversible with longterm consequences.

Shut the everloving f**k up. I LITERALLY VOTED FOR BIDEN. I GOT VACCINATED ALMOST AS SOON AS IT WAS AVAILABLE TO ME AND I'M BOOSTED. You are a f**king deranged hack and need help. Now.

I really don't feel this way about the majority of Democrats on here. It's only people like you who are completely unable to engage in good faith.

But I was told that this is a wacky conspiracy theory on par with thinking the Earth is flat and that believing it might be true means you hate all Asian people.

Biden's own pollsters are basically telling him to declare the pandemic over: https://punchbowl.news/impact-covid-positioning-strategy-memo/

They can start by not requiring masks at SOTU.

Out of curiosity, would you support Biden for reelection at this point? As I've said before, you certainly have soured on him.

It depends. Against Trump, I think I very reluctantly would. Against someone like DeSantis, definitely not.

Several airline CEOs call for the mask mandate to be repealed. Do this and watch the number of angry passengers drop like a stone. It really is that simple.

Some of them may not have been best given what we know now about the virus. Many were not "bull."

Every single one of them was bull.

In hindsight, there never should have been any major restrictions.

I don't know about never, but there certainly shouldn't have been anything after May 2021, when every adult in the country had the chance to be vaccinated.

In my home state of Massachusetts, cases are skyrocketing. I fully expect a BA2 surge. This is going to devastate the country, and, worst of all, it'll help the Republicans in the midterms.

This is disinformation. There is no place in the country where cases are skyrocketing. I know you want the pandemic to continue forever so we can be under lockdowns like your beloved China, but there is seriously something deeply wrong with you.

I mean, Covid is worse than the Black Death after all.

SnowLabrador and the Trump Virus seem to think it is.

President Biden told CBS News's Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes tonight that the COVID pandemic is "over", just over two and a half years after the WHO declared it a pandemic.

Ted Johnson at Deadline:
Quote
President Joe Biden said in a 60 Minutes interview on Sunday that the Covid pandemic “is over,” one of a series of newsworthy items he said during a sit down with Scott Pelley.

“The pandemic is over,” Biden said in a portion of the segment at the Detroit Auto Show last week. “We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lotta work on it …but the pandemic is over. If you notice, no one’s wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so I think it’s changing. And I think this is a perfect example of it.”

Public health agencies still treat Covid as health emergencies, but the head of the World Health Organization was optimistic in his remarks last week. He said that “we’re not there yet, but the end is in sight.”

There's gonna be so many resist lib and 'MD' accounts screeching about this on Twitter.

Imagine the coping from compucomp (about this and the recent developments in Ukraine) if he was still posting on here...

Yes he is absolutely right. Pretty good timing for the elections as well! w00t!

But I bet the pandemic returns on Nov 9th to the Democrats.

I will bet you any amount of money that Joe Biden does not implement any covid-related restrictions after the midterm elections.

Biden himself won't, but certain governors, mayors, college administrators and school boards are a different story.
