No one here calls it that. That's like something you'll only find amongst 50+ year olds who live at least 100 miles away.
I think that's the jist of it.  I've never heard anyone seriously be like "Yeah, I have to pick up my friend Bob in the Minnie Apple"... they'd say "I have to pick up my friend bob in the Cities"
