Bork was an outright racist and aided Nixon criminally. Kavanugb is just a drunk privileged fratboy that who doesn't understand his own actions. Come on.

That's just going to far. "Attempted rapist" could be defended, but we really don't know if he was prepared to take it that far. I somehow doubt it. He is most definitely a liar though - of that I have zero doubt after seeing his testimony.
He joined a gang rape train, put his d##k on someone's face, was pretty clearly planning to rape Ford(or some other horrible thing), his yearbook is damning, etc.
I take it that you don't believe his "I was a virgin throughout high-school and college" line of defense, then?

I actually believe that. It would be a very weird thing to lie about and could be super easily refuted by anyone who actually had sex with him during that period. I don't think he'd risk that. I wouldn't call anyone a serial rapist if they have not infact raped anyone, despite whatever number of horrendous acts they might have committed.

He lied about that and it's being refuted by his old classmates as we speak. I suspect he lied to his own wife and had to keep up the act. Devil's Triangle? Come on. Football captain.

Interesting. Are his classmates saying that he wasn't a virgin? Hadn't heard that.

There's also the whole Devil's Triangle and boofing and Renate Alumni things that are apparent to anyone but Chuck Grassley. And I think other classmates from Georgetown Prep and Yale have come forward too but I'm too lazy to search Tongue

Oh, there is no doubt that Kavanaugh is a liar, I just tend to believe the virginity story. More likely that he lied about it in college - lots and lots of young men (and women, for that matter) lie about their sexual experiences. I was a virgin until I was 22 and while I never outright lied about it, I certainly wasn't very forthcoming with the harsh truth either.

Were you a rich football and basketball captain? I mean, he could be telling the truth but be honest about the odds of each potential reality.

Based on what was known at the time of their nominations, I would say Bork.  His role in the Saturday Night Massacre was more obviously an issue than any one thing Kavanaugh did under W., and he was very extreme back when extremism in judicial nominees was still very much the exception.

Kavanaugh was my least favorite of the candidates on Trump's short list, but didn't really seem much worse than Alito seemed to me when W. nominated him.  Kavanaugh certainly didn't seem to be outside the mainstream of who you would expect a Republican president to nominate.

Based on everything we know now: definitely Kavanaugh, but the baffling thing to me is that the Republicans in the Senate Judiciary Committee were willing to let things get to the point where we know what we know now, instead of withdrawing far earlier in the process.

I think Kavanaugh is awful but based in everything we KNOW Bork is worse. Bork was a racist, a radical, complicit in Nixonian obstruction, and lacking in tempatament. Kavanaugh is a drunk and maybe possibly sexually aggressive or worse when younger, complicit in Bush era torture and highly partisan (and now after the latest hearing, also lacking in temperament). I think based on what we 100% KNOW, Bork is worse. I think Kavanaugh's confirmation on a 51-49 partisan vote given the circumstances might be worse for the court, but if I were offered a choice between him and Bork I choose Kavanaugh. I like beers do you?
