If you're a democratic socialist who wants the Democratic Party to change, you are arguably better off strategically voting Republican on November 6.

Maybe you'd even be better off strategically voting Trump in 2020. Just a thought.

Clearly the lesson from this year, in which 5 incumbent Senators lost, and 3 more came dangerously close to losing, is that #IncumbencyMatters Roll Eyes

Incumbency doesn't matter. This election has convinced me that "fundamentals" are a more important factor, than anything else. The reason why >90% of incumbents get reelected is because they generally reflect the state or district in which they are running. It comes down to that.

Except he's largely (not entirely) right.

Sarah Palin in a different hat.  It's going to be fun to watch her fans slowly come to that realization over the next two years.

She's cozy with the left-wing Donald Trump, There isn't going to be much future for Cortez if she continues dividing the party with fantastical proposals that aren't going to help the country, while Russia funding our government.

Bernie Derangement Syndrome at its finest.

Bernie is out in the public bashing minorities and women rights, pandering to racists but not people who strongly support the Democratic Party. Cortez doesn't have much clout with the party base at the moment because of her friendship with the Independent candidate.

You could put any James Monroe post in here, but this one is especially hilariously absurd and ignorant.

It’s funny how you call Tulsi “right-wing”, when only a few republicans support her, and for mainly one reason (foreign policy).

All of her political views are progressive.

"Means of production". It's like they're not even trying to hide the obvious socialism.
Well, yeah, typically when you describe yourself as a democratic socialist you're not going to shy away from being called socialist...

If they weren't shying away from being called socialists they wouldn't call themselves "democratic" socialists.

Trump himself was already on the left of his immediate GOP predecessors so I'm not sure why this is a surprise.

Trump campaigned to the left of past GOP nominees, but he's clearly governed as a standard neoliberal right-winger on everything other than trade. his economic policies are just as far-right as Reagan's, and his foreign policy is basically the status quo. I guess he's to the left of Dubya and Reagan in the sense that he doesn't seem to personally care about LGBT issues or abortion, but this is replaced by being way to their right on immigration and stoking white nationalism, so your mileage may vary.
I mean it didn’t used to be that following immigration laws was a conservative position. Protectionism includes protection from foreign competition. It’s just that Democrats realized that they win illegal immigrants 90-10 so they may as well encourage people coming here illegally in order to win elections.
