* - Once again, it's head-spinning to hear "liberals" talk about everyone needing to carry proof of ID/vaccination with them to go grocery shopping but then hearing them insist that requiring ID to vote is "racist" lol

These people are nuts. I'm tired of these clowns trying to regulate how I live my life. They can go f*** off. I'm eventually going to get vaccinated but no way in hell am I accepting having to show my proof of being vaccinated wherever I go.

Why can't these people just play The Sims if they want to control people?

Perhaps, the most pro-science Gov of US. There is virtually no reasons for vaccinated people to act differently than they do during a flue season. At best, there are "solidarity" reasons.

I feel like this is just common sense. I'm genuinely wondering what world a lot of these media types live in.

I'm vaccinated, but I still wear a mask because other people don't know that I'm vaccinated.

And if I see someone walking around on the street without a mask, I don't know if they're vaccinated, so I just assume they're a dick who doesn't care about other people.

If we had some way of signaling who's vaccinated and who's not, that would be great.  Unfortunately, no matter what it is, conservatives would say it's exactly the same as Hitler's stars/wristbands, and dumb yokels on the internet would buy that argument.  And unvaccinated people would try to lie/cheat/steal their way into pretending to be vaccinated.

Wait why are you wearing masks on the street anyways? COVID barely spreads outdoors. I haven't worn a mask outside (except when it's really cold) since August. Granted, where I live isn't super densely populated; I can understand wearing masks in a busy street in NYC

Also why would you care what other people think of you if you're vaccinated? Doesn't make any sense. Sounds like you're conforming just for conformance sake

Just gonna repost this:

Fauci’s guidance, however, is also irresponsible, and I would expect more from him and the CDC.

If we want people to be vaccinated, we need to remove the recommended restrictions for vaccinated people.  The refusal to do so really does make it -appear- like public health officials have little confidence in the vaccines, despite all the evidence that they are stupendously effective.

He's playing it safe. He also knows the way many people in this country have been acting.

The CDC has already said it's fine for people that are vaccinated to congregate with others that are also vaccinated. I don't see the issue there. As for in public, everyone has to abide by the same regulations or the whole system breaks down. Wearing a mask and staying socially distant while at the grocery store is one of the easiest things you can do. If you're arguing for exemptions for those that are vaccinated, how exactly do you keep track of that? There's already a mass hysteria on the right over things like vaccine passports (because it's apparently necessary to keep a COVID vaccine top secret?).

I agree, it is very easy to do. Yet we've got folks in here practically saying "f*** the masks, I don't have to wear them anymore if I'm vaccinated".

Not convincing at all. You reduce the incentive to get a vaccine if you’re not allowing people to return back to normal after they get vaccinated. Stop trying to socially engineer people to do your bidding; it’s creepy and completely unnecessary if they are vaccinated. You can wear your mask if you want to but I’m not wearing masks anymore once I am fully vaccinated.

I can’t believe some of you are completely shocked that some corporations are still enforcing some light COVID safety restrictions. They’re covering their asses. If there’s a small outbreak that starts at the stadium then they have those restrictions as an excuse to say they were enforcing safety.

Bro bars have been open here since like May 2020 and they’ve been at full capacity since March 2021. We had a whopping total of 16 cases the past week. People are barely even vaccinated here too. If people are fully vaccinated, everything should be COMPLETELY back to normal for them. Get the f out of here with the social engineering

Kentucky is lifting all mandates - even masks, even indoors, even for unvaccinated people.

That's it. It's over.

Have fun with your surge in a few weeks.

Just like the surge that happened in Texas?

This is utterly ridiculous...

LA schools are still going to require masks and testing every few weeks for all students and teachers for this upcoming fall, based on an agreement with the teacher unions and school admins.

https://news.yahoo.com/l-teachers-union-pact-mandates-021918050.html

...even if they’re vaccinated? What is wrong with these teacher’s unions

Also, the amount of “Democrats” on here who are upset that Covid isn’t 100% magically solved and that the vaccines aren’t as effective as originally thought are only upset for political reasons. I guarantee you, had this been a Trump second term, they would be singing a different tune. Truly disgusting, and I honestly am increasingly annoyed with a majority of red avatars.
Personally I'm annoyed when people want to go back to masks and lockdowns because I want to go out and live life and have a good time, not because of the potential impact on Joe Bidan's poll numbers. Everyone (or at least the majority?) of posters on this blog are humans too.

I don't want to go back to lockdown either, but there are intermediate measures we can take. Mitigation is not a bad thing. I still fail to see how masks are some apparent massive violation of rights to some people. They are one of the most effective measures we have against this virus (and viruses and other pathogens in general) after vaccines. Lockdowns, although necessary at times, are harmful to businesses and the economy in general. Masks and social distancing indoors are minor inconveniences. That doesn't mean everywhere. It just means in certain places, like stores. There is no harm in basic personal mitigation measures. At this point, I have to wonder how many people decided to stop basic hand-washing since it's apparently probably too much of a chore for most.

At what point would you endorse an end to social distancing measures?

And take "lockdodown" out of your vocabularly. It is not an option and disgusting its even still being debated in July 2021.
From what I can gather, similar pandemics in human history have lasted anywhere from 3 years (1918-1921 Influenza Pandemic) to 8 years (Plague of Justinian) before they burn out and become entirely endemic. Assuming that COVID follows a similar path, it is safe to say that rolling lockdowns, masking, and social distancing measures should ideally remain in effect until late 2022 at the earliest and early 2028 at the latest.

Nah. I think I'll pass. You stay locked down if you want though. Just don't take away my rights.

Reported for misinformation and vaccine denialism.

People are looking for ANY reason to reinstate covid restrictions forever.

No, people actually want the opposite. They want everyone to be vaccinated so we can reopen safely and not need to lockdown again. Rushing to reopen is going to necessitate another lockdown.

Are you living in a box? We've been reopened for literally months now. Texas has been completely reopen since March. I swear the Atlas COVID doomers don't go outside at all

Greg Abbott issues executive order banning vaccine mandates for private businesses

https://www.texastribune.org/2021/10/11/texas-greg-abbott-covid-19-vaccine-mandate/

Not sure that he actually has the ability to do this, but nonetheless, what a POS.

Incredibly based. Great to see Republicans breaking the shackles of free market economics.

Article clearly states that rates are flat in heavily vaccinated areas. More COVID scaremongering from the sensationalist msm.

I fully expect near-permanent mask and distancing requirements in the more liberal parts of the country.

It was a disaster to merge masking and social distancing in public health messaging. The public health agencies were well meaning, but the effect was that the hate for social distancing measures, which is justifiable given its damage to the economy and human social interaction, was transferred over to masking, which has almost zero cost in any sense.

Honestly society would hardly be changed from 2019 if we had perpetual indoor mask mandates and no other mitigation measure but you wouldn't know it from the people frothing at the mouth with irrational hate about masks.

I do not like masks. I ascertain a lot of information from looking at people's faces. A mask is a barrier to socialization. I find people who wear masks less trustworthy because I don't see their full facial expressions.

Given how basically irrelevant this virus is to the vast majority of people who are vaccinated, I see zero need for any mask mandates.

These people are worse than politicians, just awful that they have the ego to be major policy makers and that the rest of the country lets them get away with it.

And there's nothing you can do about them... they are there for life and completely unaccountable to anyone. I hate the Supreme Court.
