Israel has a right to defend itself and, for the most part, has been unwillingly pushed into conflict over the past several decades. The Jewish people deserve a sanctuary where they can safely reside.
The power dynamics between Israel and the Palestinian people, however, are undeniable. Israel is the superior economy/military/government and is not only refusing to support the safety of the Palestinian people, but it is rejecting its role as the "big brother" in the two-state relationship and is pursuing what will be viewed in the future as a genocide to advance the political goals of Israel's current leaders.
If Hamas were to win this conflict (0% chance), Israeli Jews would be murdered en masse. If Israel were to win this conflict (98% chance), the Palestinian people would be further subjected to dehumanizing governance and denied an equal chance in society. Comparing these two outcomes, the preferable outcome is ultimately Israel removing Hamas leadership and aiding Palestine long-term in their economic and societal growth. Based on Israel's response to these attacks, though, Israel would rather take the easy route and eliminate the hope and livelihoods of Palestinians. I hope their strategy changes soon. I don't support Hamas, and I don't support the Israeli government in any form, but I support a future where Israel changes course and decides to support the Palestinian people in creating a secure government that would benefit both sides.
