Israel has a right to defend itself and, for the most part, has been unwillingly pushed into conflict over the past several decades. The Jewish people deserve a sanctuary where they can safely reside.

The power dynamics between Israel and the Palestinian people, however, are undeniable. Israel is the superior economy/military/government and is not only refusing to support the safety of the Palestinian people, but it is rejecting its role as the "big brother" in the two-state relationship and is pursuing what will be viewed in the future as a genocide to advance the political goals of Israel's current leaders.

If Hamas were to win this conflict (0% chance), Israeli Jews would be murdered en masse. If Israel were to win this conflict (98% chance), the Palestinian people would be further subjected to dehumanizing governance and denied an equal chance in society. Comparing these two outcomes, the preferable outcome is ultimately Israel removing Hamas leadership and aiding Palestine long-term in their economic and societal growth. Based on Israel's response to these attacks, though, Israel would rather take the easy route and eliminate the hope and livelihoods of Palestinians. I hope their strategy changes soon. I don't support Hamas, and I don't support the Israeli government in any form, but I support a future where Israel changes course and decides to support the Palestinian people in creating a secure government that would benefit both sides.

Some of these aren’t mutually exclusive.

Option 2, though Hamas also deserves the meat hooks.

Option two. Hell, that is probably the only truly sensible option.

Poorly-made poll, since several of these options aren't mutually exclusive and there's no option for a more qualified support of Israel (i.e. "I support the current response, but it could become excessive if they escalate further", which is seemingly the position of the White House)

None of these.

I support Israel, and think they have the right to defend themselves, but there is a line they shouldn't cross and it's too early to say if they are going to cross that line or not.

#4 is close but states they have already gone too far, which I'm not sure of.

#2 is too easy; almost everyone sides with the civilians. But simply saying you support the civilians on both sides is a cowardly non-answer. It says nothing about who you actually want to win the conflict, and this is quite literally a war.

*I support the existence of Israel. The Jewish people deserve a homeland after thousands of years of persecution, it may as well be their ancient one, and Islam ought to be knocked down a peg or hundred.

*My support for Israel's existence amounts to nothing. I am not capable of influencing the conflict, of preventing or causing any tragedy. If I'm ever able to exert an impact on the world, it's very likely to be a broader issue outside the scope of the conflict.

*I don't plan on reading any detailed news articles that show what has happened recently. I have other things I'd rather read about. Because of this willful ignorance, I have nothing to say about the current situation in particular.

Of this poll I would be option 3, 4, and maybe the spirit of 1 in descending order.

I don't support Bibi but don't support Hamas because a Palestinian killed RFK that's why you see BLM out in support of Hamas but not NAACP

Bibi is more patriotic to me than Hamas but I am not white so I don't sport an Israel avatar, white Hebrews and it's Hebrews, Jews is a Religion, are the original cave men they buried dead in Ossuary boxes behind stones

My opinion is that the conflict (both the present, specific, one and generally) is an upsetting and distressing catastrophe.

Option 2, with 4 in the mix and something of 5 in there as well (if I cannot in any way agree with it as a whole, though)

It’s funny; I voted option 4 and would agree that redjohn’s comment is basically a summary of my thoughts too. Granted…

The Israeli state deserves to exist.

The Palestinian state deserves to exist.

The killing of Israeli citizens by Hamas is evil.

The killing of Palestinian citizens by the IDF is evil.

The Israeli government's policies towards Palestinians are unjust.

The Palestinian people do not deserve to pay for the crimes of Hamas.

The Israeli people to not deserve to pay for the crimes of their government.

The goal of Hamas is the genocide of the Jewish people, and as such must be destroyed.

The goal of many people in charge of the Israeli government is the ethnic cleansing or genocide of the Palestinian people, and as such must be removed from power.

The ethno-religious tensions that have led to this conflict have existed for thousands of years and are not going to be resolved any time soon.

Somewhere between 1 and 2. I fully support Israel in their current course of action but there is certainly not *nothing they could do* to change that.

eimply saying you support the civilians on both sides is a cowardly non-answer. It says nothing about who you actually want to win the conflict, and this is quite literally a war.

What's cowardly is talking tough about how you support one side or the other in ~The Conflict~ from behind a computer screen thousands of miles away from the region.

And in this...conflict, supporting the civilians on both sides has been much harder for governments and others with actual influence to do in practice, so I wouldn't call doing so cowardly at all.
