Stacey Abrams is coming along as a very Marco Rubio/Tim Pawlenty 2012-esque figure in all of this.

Young, the optics of it fit, she's been (aggressively) pursuing it on a public level; but I just have a feeling it won't be her. Not yet. She doesn't fit the other requirements (experience, leadership) that Biden has outlined.

I think signs are pointing to a close pick between Harris and Whitmer, with Cortez Masto as a dark horse 3rd place.

As for which of them, your guess is as good as mine.

Wouldn't this give a Senate seat to the Republicans?

It's Biden, are you expecting smart politics?

Klobuchar announces she's in charge of a group to win back the Senate and maintain the Democrats' majority in the House - the Win Big Project.

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/05/01/amy-klobuchar-launches-campaign-to-aid-senate-house-dems-in-2020-228360

Is it safe to say she's out? I can't see her creating this if she thought she really had a chance at the VP slot.

From the Axios/SurveyMonkey Poll (6/12–6/16)

Quote
In your view, what's the single most important attribute for Joe Biden's (2020) vice presidential running mate to have?

Experience as an executive, such as serving as governor of a state or mayor of a city
14%

Brings racial and ethnic diversity to the Democratic ticket
23%

Represents the future of the Democratic Party
17%

Brings ideological balance to the Democratic ticket
14%

Has proven appeal to swing voters
11%

Experience as a legislator
6%

Other (please specify)
12%

No answer
2%

These numbers really help the case for KLB. Executive experience and her ideological appeal to the progressive left may be her ticket in.

Unrelated - is anyone here genuinely pulling for Rice?

If so, why?

I find her to be the easiest political punching bag for Trump, an embodiment of establishment status-quo Obama years neoliberalism; a pretty unpopular ideology among many Americans on both sides.

Full disclosure of bias, I'm a Demings/KLB fan, but I don't understand Rice's rise in betting markets.

KLB was just named the chairwoman for the 2020 Democratic Party Platform committee. I wonder if that means she's out of the running.

Duckworth was also named a member of the committee.

No way they'd agree (even to the initial press release) if they thought they had a realistic chance.

It's Abrams, Demings, Harris, or Warren.

And that committee is deep with Warren endorsees.

This might as well be Warren pulling a Cheney.

Did the 2000 republican committee have a lot of Cheney loyalists?

Unsure but I could research.

The 2020 Democratic committee looks heavily Warren-friendly, however.

These are the private citizen members alone.

Stuart Appelbaum - President of the Retail, Wholesale, Department Store Union, Democratic Donor

Don Graves - Head of Community Relations at KeyBank, Democratic Donor

Josh Orton - Huffington Post contributor, Harry Reid/Barack Obama digital communications aide, Sanders 2020 National Policy Director

Richard Trumka - AFL-CIO President, Democratic Donor

Analilia Mejia - Executive Director of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance (affiliate of the Working Families Party, which notably endorsed Warren for President)

You certainly are very optimistic about Abrams chances...

Yeah, it seems pretty clear that Abrams is out of the running at this point.

One can hope. Tongue

I just think it would make sense that KLB's seemingly exit would open up a last opportunity for her.

Demings pretty much saying she’s not interested.

Damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it damn it.

KLB and Demings (seemingly) out on the same night. Sad

Guess I'm pulling for... Lujan Grisham? :/

Interesting Google Trends data for (insert candidate name + "VP").

Duckworth
Harris
Warren
Demings

Duckworth is gaining a lot of traction, fast, even outside of Atlas.

The point about her being a danger around Biden is unfortunately true. KLB's diagnosis seals Demings/Harris (Hey there, Senator!)/Warren, if the Biden camp hasn't already made their decision.

I was really hoping for her, even after all the violence in Atlanta. Sad

I hope she recovers and runs for higher office someday.

Apparently, in their quest, the #KHive is now doxing supporters of rival "VP campaigns" and going Full Birther on Duckworth. (Incidentally, the person behind the birthers is one of those brainlets who, and I hate to use this term because of how diluted it's become, played the race card when I criticized Kamala's support base as toxic on Twitter)

Suddenly, I finally realize what y'all were talking about when you criticized my wing. I love Kamala and think she's a great voice for our party, but I don't want her toxic supporters associated with the Biden campaign.

It's the KHive, what do you expect?

TV Dinner Trust Fund Baby and Serial Draft Dodger tells Purple Heart Recipient-turned-successful politician-potentially-turned Vice President that she's not a real veteran.

The GOP's lies are just dangerously incorrect.

Duckworth and Rice have jumped ahead of Warren on betting markets, with Harris still the overwhelming favorite.

Is this code for not Warren?

He knows Warren's "socialist" background would hurt his campaign, so another white male putting himself ahead of a woman possibly having a great opportunity. Classic neoliberalism.
