Economic malaise and hyperpartisan environment, both of which will contribute to low Democratic turnout (relative to 2008 although he may emulate Kerry's performance), high Republican turnout (relative to ANY year, including 2010/1994), and most Independents breaking to Romney the last few days of the campaign (similar to Reagan in 1980).
