Turnout would be my only answer.

This. What would be more interesting is how the Democrats will go ahead like this. I'm saying that perhaps a loss due to poor turnout will make the Dems see that they should look for a more upmarket, socially progressive fiscally center-right base (perhaps a "nanny state" libertarianism, where high speed toll roads, private space exploration and  more market based approaches to infrastructure, research and inequality take center stage)....and with increase support for pot, gays, guns and a 50/50 chance that Roe will be overruled(will make the abortion debate a whole lot easier for pro-choicers), that sort of message will really resonate.

We only have a limited sample of votes, but I'm certain the President would rather spend less time in states he should win and more in the belly of the beast, but he has to pour a sh**tload of money and time making sure the voters get out.

I'm partially open to that idea but it seems rather daft to vote to go back to the same thing that caused the mess in the first. Then again, maybe untill there is a big enough bubble to pop, we are pretty much stuck in the Neoliberal paradigm and that the best we can hope for is to reinflate the bubble. And like I said, maybe it would be time for the Democrats to give up on the midwest and try to win in the West by giving up on old school liberalism and going to a sort of left libertarianism that made a lot of since when contrasting against Bush's Right-Statism.

At a certain point, you do have to be the person who just knows what to do no matter what happens.

Economic malaise and hyperpartisan environment, both of which will contribute to low Democratic turnout (relative to 2008 although he may emulate Kerry's performance), high Republican turnout (relative to ANY year, including 2010/1994), and most Independents breaking to Romney the last few days of the campaign (similar to Reagan in 1980).

Voter fraud, as evidenced by the ongoing investigations involving the RNC.

There's a fundamental difference between "Obama leading my candidate in the polls" and "the American people agreeing with your worldview"; namely, your worldview appears to be this:

And I don't see the majority of the American people agreeing with that.

HAHAHA

No. I recognize that Obama is human and has made mistakes and isn't perfect. However, Mitt Romney and the Republican clowns are far, far worse and they don't hold a candle to Obama. Your candidate is also worse because he's a heartless Randian.

And the majority of people agree with me because Obama is leading.

It'll be the fault of skewed polls causing the Dems to stay at home because they think Obama has this in the bag.  Then they'll all cry boo-hoo once Romney wins California 52-48.

Libya might end up hurting Obama.  In a close election, looking like covering up a terrorist attack might hurt enough to toss it.  Rice should be fired over it.

I hope to God that doesn't happen. The revival of the New Deal Coalition is the only path to a truly left-wing party.

The lousy economy, the "stimulus" bill, Obamacare, the impending defeat in Afghanistan, and the events in Northern Africa.
