Who would have guessed ten years ago that an entire prime time lineup for the 2020 DNC would include the architects of the Iraq War and a tribute to John McCain haha

The Iraq War ended nearly a decade ago and has stopped being a relevant political issue. This is like suggesting having pro-Vietnam War people at a 1980s DNC is some big "gotcha."

Democrats have always liked John McCain when he wasn't in a general election against a Democrat. They liked him attacking George W. Bush in the 2000 primaries; Kerry considered him as a running mate at one point to troll the GOP; they liked him sticking it to evangelicals like Huckabee in 2008; and they liked him destroying Republicans' pitiful attempt to repeal the ACA in 2017.

I don't think anyone should be surprised that John McCain's widow is throwing her support to Joe Biden. After how Trump treated her husband, would you blame her? And Biden's long-time personal friendship with the McCains is very well known.

Any time someone questions Joe's judgement again, I'll show them this picture

Is this a picture of his wife when she was younger?

Who would've guessed ten years ago that 99% of Republican elected officials would become Donald Trump's bitches?

I don’t understand. You’re apparently an R-MS Never Trumper who supported Bloomberg. I would have thought you would have applauded that ex-Bush/McCain supporters are endorsing Biden. Yet your criticisms sound indistinguishable from far leftist criticisms.

He's made clear elsewhere that he's voting for Trump because he thinks Democrats have gone too far to the left, and that Biden is too "out there" to become President. So it shouldn't be a surprise that he has the opinions expressed here.

Am I reading this right? Harris is speaking after Obama? I had heard it was the other way around.
Yes, they changed it. Obama will speak, then Harris's sister, niece, and stepdaughter will introduce our next VP.

I'm not surprised. As I've said elsewhere, Obama has a very high opinion of Harris, and she is similar to him in many ways. So it wouldn't surprise me that he would want to provide the "prologue" to her speech, if you can call it as such.

Is anyone else a little disappointed with Harris's speech? Her references to her family were powerful, but overall the speech just.... Underwhelmed? Maybe I had too high expectations based on her beautiful ripping the f*** out of Kavanaugh during the hearings now and expected the equivalent fire and ball kicking passion from a stump speech.

I was expecting average and got average. Seems to be a theme with Harris. Should be enough this year, but doesn't speak particularly well to her chances if (when) she runs for the presidency again.

I simply don't understand why so many people on here have such a glowing opinion of Harris, and believe that she is the next best thing for the Democratic Party. I just don't think that she has the skills or the ability of Obama, and I'm not sure how she will fare when she is running for the Presidency herself in 2024 or later. She has flaws that might be exploited by a capable opponent in the future.

Most posters on this site don't like Kamala. What are you talking about lol?

I'm apart of the minority of users on here who actually likes Kamala.

Given the reaction to her on this thread, and the reaction to the news that she was named as Biden's running mate, any casual observer would think otherwise. And on balance, I think that most Democrats here do like her (and polls show that those outside of this forum certainly do). I've noted that Harris has many similarities with Obama, but she doesn't have his political skills, and that's an important distinction. But as I've also said, getting Trump out is more important, and I'm willing to overlook Harris' selection to do so.
