This is Hillary all over again. The early poll facade making him appear electable along with the old establishment wanting to line up behind him. His "experience" is an omen as it was with Hillary, I think he has even more baggage than she had and she had a ton. Crazy to see people falling for it again, the "safe" choice never really turns out to be safe in the end.

I dont underestimate him at all. He could win the nomination since voters could care less about his record. If he wins the nomination....he probably beats Trump in a race similar to Northam vs Gillespie.

Wrong. McGovern and Mondale lost because the economy was too good. They would of won in a recession. Declaring someone lost because they were "too radical," is what narrative fiction writing pundits and political nerds with an agenda do after an election in order to satisfy the public's obsession with being given a simple and explainable causal relationship for an outcome (or in the political nerds case....an excuse the try and jam their agenda through)

Reagan and FDR are examples of radicals who got elected but since they won, the history is rewritten to make it seem like they werent radicals with their presidencies watered down and white washed to the point they become normalized.

Former Vice President Joe Biden said during a 1974 discussion on campaign finance that he tried to "prostitute" himself to big donors during his first run for U.S. Senate but failed to get their money because he was too young.

His youth, however, was what enabled Biden to raise enough money to win, he explained.

"I'm like the token black or the token woman," Biden said. "I was the token young person."

Biden's comments came during an appearance on The Advocates, a weekly debate program that aired on PBS in the 1970s. Biden, then in his second year as a U.S. senator, was invited to argue in favor of public funding for political campaigns and contribution limits for individuals.

You run the risk of deciding whether or not you're going to prostitute yourself to give the answer you know they want to hear in order to get funded to run for that office," Biden testified during the program.

Biden admits he decided to "prostitute" himself, but was denied because of his age.

"I went to the big guys for the money," Biden said. "I was ready to prostitute myself in the manner in which I talk about it, but what happened was they said, ‘Come back when you're 40, son.'"

"So I had to go out, I had to go out to a number of small contributors," he said.

Biden goes on to say his ability to raise money despite his rejection from big donors—he said he raised $276,000—was due to his unique identity as a young person.

"I'm a 29-year-old oddball," he said. "The only reason I was able to raise the money is that I was able to have a national constituency to run for office, because I was 29."

Biden's campaign is one of limited exposure

But there are risks. Voters in the early primary states - especially Iowa, with its caucus system that rewards on-the-ground organizing - want to see the candidates personally and often. And there is the danger that Biden's schedule could reinforce a word President Donald Trump is already using to describe his candidacy: sleepy.

Biden's campaign says that's not going to happen. "I have zero worry that any voter will leave a Joe Biden event with doubts about his energy," said Kate Bedingfield, his deputy campaign manager. "They're going to see it everywhere he goes."

And here's former Vice President Joe Biden's agenda for the holiday weekend, according to his campaign: "Joe Biden has no public events scheduled."

Those seven words are becoming familiar for the Biden team. Aside from a campaign swing right after announcing his candidacy, Biden has kept his head down while his rivals rush from state to state to state. Even when he has held public events, they have included only a handful of questions from voters or reporters.

I mean you gotta hand it to Biden...he's running his campaign in accordance to his principles. Meeting with big donors, not bothering to release any health care plans or substantive policy proposals, not bothering to campaign because its ''his turn,'' running a campaign about reaching out the other side. This is the real Biden folks.

For all the talk about Biden being electable or well liked, the latest Economist/Yougov poll has his fav/unfav at 46/46 among voters. First time he hasn't been at least +1 in net fav in this poll. If he slips into negative territory, hopefully the talk about him being very well liked will stop.

Biden isnt actually electable. The media has determined that he is electable and the narrative has now been established. What proof do they have that he's electable? None but he seems electable. No way a non descript grandfatherly white male can lose.

This is exactly right. The privilege of the front runner is to not have to go to these cattle call shows.

Especially since Biden knows it's not a Biden crowd.

If/when Biden's numbers go down, we'll be seeing a lot more of him on the road. Not until then.
