Code:
Yeah that's pretty horrible. From one Pokemon Go fan to others out there, have some damn self control.

Yeah. It even kinda bugs me when people go to cemeteries to play it.
The game is designed so you have to go to a gravestone in order to get certain things you need in order to play.

Why not go to a cemetery? We played in a cemetery every Thanksgiving when we were kids, next door to where we had Thanksgiving dinner.

Why not go to a Holocaust Memorial either?

As long as it's not distracting others, let it happen.

Because they're sh!tting all over the memory of the victims of one of the worst crimes in human history, that's why.
How? The app is making many visit and learn about places they never would have otherwise.

...

If you go to the Holocaust museum to play a video game, you shouldn't be there in the first place.  Play somewhere else.  When did showing respect for Holocaust victims become a novel idea?

This may be the dumbest bill of all time.  I wish Obama had a Tinder-esque super-veto that he could use once a year to stop particularly stupid bills without any override.

We have international courts for international legal action... domestic courts have absolutely no sovereignty over foreign nations or foreign nationals, so any ruling would be useless except for propaganda and stirring-up-sh**t purposes... but as others have pointed out, we're also basically rubber-stamping any other country that decides to take this same route to create propaganda and stir up sh**t against us.

Despite my disdain for Hillary, I think she genuinely believes she is doing good, more so than most politicians. I would describe her more as lost with a moral compass that points in the wrong direction.

Bill, on the other hand, is basically evil, and has probably been a negative influence on Hillary.

I think we can all agree there are other important issues beside LGBT rights and it doesn't make the LGBT rights any less important.

I deeply care about economic/social issues and it doesn't affect the way I care about the LGBT rights. Why would it?

What I don't approve is a single-issue mentality, no matter what said issue is. It's narrow-minded and counterproductive (and I'm not referring to any poster right now).

Filthy dead baby bears down 1 shortly. Hoping this goes 4-0. Sadly the Cubs are good, but them winning would basically be Trump winning the Presidential election.

Cubs winning is like Cruz winning the Presidency

Comparing the Cubs to Ted Cruz in any regard is unconscionable.

Cubs would easily compare to the Empire, the Borg, Voldemort, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Putin, etc. You get the general idea.

Nope. That would be the Yankees

I'm just sad that Tweed is back on the net and not inside a mental hospital being pumped full of medication. The dude is a complete nutjob and his transgressions against someone as kind as BaconKing shouldn't ever be forgotten or forgiven.

It's always worth remembering that Bannon really is scary, but I can't help laughing at how his media image is outright demonic while Paul Ryan's intentions, which are just as radical in their own fashion, have been treated by DC journalists as the height of serious, urbane wonkery for years.

On the movie of V for Vendetta:

How cliche do you have to be to thing of this as some stalwart battle cry for the freedom of man? The book--with the political machinations by various government members for power over a crumbling, delegitimized bureaucracy--was far more interesting. The film is simply "1984" with a happy ending. This crap is so Bush era.

EDIT: In light of the Catholic connection, I have to say I am now more proud than ever to be born on Guy Fawkes Day.

Seriously, I completely agree with TexasGurl. There is a number of posters who will just start from the assumption that the mods are always wrong no matter what they do, and will protest anything almost as if just for the sake of it. I'm genuinely surprised to find Averroes among them, because I consider him to be one of the most thoughtful posters here, but I still have to say it: I find this attitude unbelievably petulant and childish.

By the way, I wish that I had not watched the video. Grotesque. Every person caught laughing at that remark ought to go into monastic seclusion in the North Woods for a winter or two to reflect on the monsters which they have become.

If I've lost CXSmith, I've lost the forum. Cry
No, just a teenager who thinks he's way more important 'round here than he actually is.

Yeah, he's far less important compared to forum icons like you and Sanchez.

Oddly enough, I'm not looking for your approval.

I have never ever EVER understood, even during my time there, why the mods punishment system seems adapted towards tolerating repeated misbehavior with no punishment worse than removing offending posts, and then a death sentence long after it's due or, occasionally a temp ban followed by super-duper probation that inevitably ends in the subject being banned eventually. Just ding people for short-term temp bans like a week or two to cool off, increase penalties as infractions rise, and then if the dolt doesn't respond to repeatedly being booted off for weeks at a time, oblige them with a permaban.

Give CC a week off as a well-earned swat on the nose and move on.
Because they are too concerned with appearing fair, And the inevitable wailing and gnashing of teeth from the usual suspects when someone is eventually banned.

If by tough guy you mean colds English Pete out on his b*******, then you're correct.. By the way, those blue blazer types in the young Republicans you deride so. You are so so so very very much one of them. Trying to make a distinction between the brand of edgy angry white right-wingers is a Fool's errand

The bolded part is especially true with regard to Sanchez.

A bit. Liberals need to fight harder for issues like subsidizing surrogate mothers for gay couples and allowing same-sex couples to adopt children.

Government paying mothers to give their children to someone else is a perfect example of neglecting the importance of family.   Privileging funding for child care outside the home over supporting parents in caring for children at home is a less extreme example of this.

I am sure that you will be shouted at for saying this, but I was taken aback by this example as well.

It is extremely disturbing to see this conversation, which is ostensibly about how liberals should think about "family values" as of 2017, turn to the suggestion that we use tax subsidies to coerce poor women into becoming rentable wombs.

Sam Spade is terrible, Virginia is the best, and mods please lock this thread thx.

To be honest all I remember about Sam Spade was his love for a term "f****t".

To be fair, he was also a racist IIRC.

Jeez, this show is still on?!  On season FIVE?!?!

The most improbably twist of all is getting dozens of hours of screen-time out of contrived plots and cardboard characters while continuing to fool viewers into believing that this constitutes "prestige" television.

Criticism of Israel is not ipso facto anti-Semitic but can and often does contain (or, at worst, consist in) anti-Semitic dog whistles and innuendos. Corbyn hasn't to my knowledge been particularly bad about this himself, but he's given aid and comfort to people who have and it's legitimate to see it as a blot on him. I can't believe I have to spell this out.

I say this as someone who wants to come round on Corbyn but still considers this a real sticking point.

Christ this thread is an offensive garbage fire. Going after folks' home states as opposed to their ideology is laughably immature, there is not a single state that you can generalize as being "scum". Next time, consider going after the individual and not the other 4.86 million Alabamans.

Furthermore, "jokes" like this really ought to turn your stomach. You shouldn't wish that a person had been retroactively aborted simply because the person they turned out to be was a racist jackwagon. As someone who's mother seriously considered abortion when she was pregnant with me, these casual kind of comments sting a lot more than they should.
