The way CNN is trying to goad the candidates into attacking each other is gross

Seems like Sanders is having a good debate so far, which he needs given his gradual decline in the polls.

This might be slightly bad for Biden by providing voters looking for a 'moderate winner' with more choices and exposure to those choices.

By Beto's logic, someone who loses a battleground state by 3 points doesn't seem like a great candidate, that's 38 electoral votes for Trump regardless of whether he wins Texas by 9 points or 3 points.

Marianne kind of has a point that Trump's emotional appeals can't just be combated with intellectual arguments, though I am more optimistic that Warren and Sanders can have coherent and convincing emotional arguments too.

Beto is right, the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow live on. This is blindingly obvious, it is insane how people can deny that this is a serious issue.

Seems like a bad move for Biden to call 54-year old Kamala Harris a 'kid'.

I like DeBlasio's attack on Biden and Harris, good to call them out especially Biden's comments to donors.

"If you want to get something done, just tell me it’s impossible" I'm not sure about Gillibrand's opening here, could be good but maybe a bit corny and cliche.

Nice line by Harris but I'm not sure if it's accurate, her candidacy is not very well defined so far so hopefully she helps define her candidacy more in this debate.

An important thing to consider is that the healthcare plans candidates release will be significantly different from what they end up enacting, even if they get a trifecta. So the bolder plans show that the candidates will aim higher and potentially a compromise on their plan would be better than a compromise on a compromise, though the other consideration is the more moderate plans may be better in the general election so there is a risk of harming yourself in the general election for something that won't get passed either way (though this risk can be overstated).

I swear didn't Harris want to abolish private insurance in the previous debate or was that Gillibrand?

Harris flip-flopped.

Harris calling Biden 'Senator' seems petty, even if he was wrong to call her a 'kid'.

Interesting how Harris is being targeted so much. If the field thinks Biden will collapse on his own and they are better off sorting out who takes his votes, then the Trump 2016 precedent should give them second thoughts.

Bernie and Warren are going to up after this. Harris will go down

Hope so.

After the first debate, I was worried about how Biden would fare in a debate against Trump.  But if he performs as well as he is tonight, I think Biden would win it easily.

Tbf, Trump's campaign strengths are elsewhere, he flopped in the debates against Hillary and isn't that formidable on the debate stage.

This BS is why there shouldn't be a primary and the party insiders should just coronate a nominee. Biden will still win but will suffer damage because the rest of the candidates constantly beat up on him.

Nonsense, whoever wins this primary will be well tested and have earned the nomination.

The primary fight with Bernie fatally damaged Hillary from the left. That's why Stein got more votes than Hillary lost the midwest by, because those petulant children on the left refused to vote for Hillary and they gave us Trump.

This is such an overrated argument, Trump's primary was MUCH more divisive and even the 2008 Democratic primary was more divisive. Hillary was already unpopular even before Bernie ran a legitimate campaign that raised important issues.
