He's probably referring to John Spong and a couple other theologians along the same vein, not any particular church. Although there are a couple syncretistic sects that combined Christian theology with a sort of pantheism, but I've never heard of them being considered mainline.

To any other Red Sox fan, it's fine. But to anyone from New England, it's not. When you have a friend who ran in the Marathon, you have a goddamn right to take this seriously. When you realize that it could have been one of the people you literally grew up knowing since kindergarten instead of Martin Richard or Jason Collier or Lu Lingzi or Krystle Campbell, it's very personal.

When the city you grew up loving, the streets you ended up walking, and the marathon you grew up watching ends up being attacked, I don't know how you don't take this seriously.

No. I think its the responsibility of education and the family to teach a person how to read. If they fail to do that, then that's their fault and life goes on. It shouldn't be an automatic right.

I would say that they are on much more solid ground than 'working class solidarity'.

But anyway, to sum up, two words; 'prohibition' and 'punishment'. Ban prostitution, drug use etc, and hopefully that will confine their usage to societal dregs. Death penalty for murder, rape and drug dealing. Amendment banning same-sex marriage and gay adoption. Allow tax-payers to donate some of their income tax to the Church.

I have no way of knowing, obviously. If the question here was supposed to be, "Who do you think should have won the American Civil War?" however my answer is the Confederate States, though I personally would want to live in the United States and in the event of a pro-civil rights revolution in the CSA would want the USA to militarily intervene so as to assist in their liberation. Confederates should've been left be to govern themselves; the Union response was imperialist and should have simply been to demand the CSA sit down for negotiations and agree to just terms of separation.
