To all of you dunking on me in this thread: you didn't win. You lost. You've made me a martyr for free speech. I was muted for my views and my views alone; I broke no rules of decorum. You couldn't get me banned for mudslinging, so you just muted me to silence my views. You've violated maybe the most important principle underlying your political system (it's the First Amendment for a reason) because you demand that war discussion be an echo chamber of pro-Ukraine cheerleading.

What does this mean? I'll give some analogies. When I write on WeChat, I'm always careful about what I post and know certain things cannot be said, or the next time I go to China I might end up in a small room with guns pointed at me. If I'm at work, I'm always careful when discussing politics because expressing the wrong view to the wrong person could cost me my job. This forum has proven itself to be no different. You claim to hold a moral high ground but now you've proven to be hypocrites and a group of ideologues who cannot tolerate dissenting views.

With all due respect, if you want an ultra-permissive, no rules space to talk about how genociding Ukrainians isn't real, or is otherwise perfectly acceptable, then there are other places deep in the sewers of the internet where you can post and find common ground with fellow scumbags.

The 40 countries that abstained from the UNGA resolution are home to a majority of the population of the world. What happened to "majority rules" and "one man one vote", two other core principles of your government? Or is it that at the end of the day, your forum is your domain and thus is no different than WeChat or at work, environments where speech is not free? I'm fine with being muted in this fashion, since I've won a greater ideological victory than I could have possibly done on that thread; while defending "freedom and democracy" you've managed to violate the #1 principle of it because you couldn't tolerate dissenting views expressed respectfully.

Oh no, I never intended to be. But muting turned me into one. The responses simply confirm it. You can mock me all you want, but at the end of the day, you know deep down that if you can't handle dissenting views expressed respectfully and get someone silenced, then you don't believe in freedom of expression, and this bothers you because it gets you stuck in great hypocrisy. If you actually believed in "American ideals" then you'd understand freedom of expression is beyond just limiting the government's authority to regulate speech and that replacing the government with another authority to impose censorship is absolutely counter to the spirit. If I get banned as one user suggests that would make me an even greater martyr and the forum administrator a greater hypocrite.

You're upset because I've caught you in a deeply hypocritical act; you were claiming to defend "liberal democratic" values, but I successfully used the core principle of it against you, and you violated it in order to censor me. All the memes and mockery won't change that fact. If you were claiming to defend Western geopolitical interests, which is what you're really doing under the cover of "freedom and democracy" rhetoric, then we could have a solid debate, but then you'd lose that smug superiority of moral righteousness, and you can't tolerate that now, can you?
