I had a small hamburger from McDonald's about 1400, no fries, and nothing since.

You had dinner at 2pm?!?

So tomorrow night will be the spaghetti?

I considered it a late lunch, but still wanted to eat light because the stomach bug hasn't completely gotten out of my system, yet.

Tomorrow is Friday night.  It's a weekend.  Because of the big, I still won't pig out, but I'll eat what I want to.  Spaghetti will wait until
Monday.

This stomach bug has been cruel to me.  I have only had two medium sized meals in the last 72 hours.  I haven't eaten in over 7 hours, and I'm really not hungry.  I'm not trying to go anorexic or anything, but I've just been afraid to eat.  I anticipate a light-eating weekend.  I've lost 4 pounds so far this week, and I bet I will lose more by morning.  I was at 290 on Tuesday morning.  This morning, I was down to 286 and I can see lower 280's tomorrow.

All things considered with as little as I've eaten this week, this may be what I need to start getting serious about my weight.  I don't feel like junking my system up day after day, meal after meal.  I anticipate being down around 283-284 by morning.  I could probably get down into the 270's by my doctor's appointment in late March.  It's supposed to be beautiful this weekend, so I am going to get out and walk for 15-20 minutes each day this weekend.  I'm not going to pig out this weekend as I'll still be careful with what and how much I put into my stomach.  I'll take it day by day, but I don't need to pig out.

Again, you honestly think you're going to end up losing 3 pounds in a 24 hour period?  You must have had a lot of poops today.

I can see at least 2.  I lost 4 yesterday alone.

Bushie, in order to lose four pounds in one day, you would have had to have burned 14,000 more calories than you consumed.  You did not exercise or move much at all so your calories burned was probably closer to the BMR of 2200 calories, 2600 max. . Plus, you didn't even fast, you ate hotdogs, cheese, and crackers.  You definitely came in at a net loss in calories these past two days, but it was no way more than 1000 calories net under, again, the most you could have lost was 2200-2600 calories since you did zero exercise.

Scientific fact isn't yielding here. You did not lose 4 pounds. You might have lost 0.2 lbs at best. Perhaps you stepped on the scale wrong or weighed yourself 290 on a full stomach, full bowels, full hydration and 286 on empty stomach, empty bowels, dehydration.

I weighed at the exact same time both mornings with the same clothes on and both on an empty stomach.  The scale showed 290 on Tuesday, 289.5 on Wednesday and 285.5 on Thursday.  The scale does not lie especially when all the other variables are the same.  That's algebra for you.

I did some calculation and on Tuesday, I only had about 600 calories (1 3/4 hot dogs with just mustard was only 480 calories according to the nutrition labels on the packages.  On Wednesday, I had about 1,400 calories with 400 of that being the crackers and cheese and the rest being the Sprite.  Today, I had about 1,900 calories with 1,100 of that being from McDonald's and the rest being Sprite and 1 can of Mountain Dew.  Both Wednesday and today I have had a lot of BMs.  I had about 6 BMs yesterday and 3 so far today.

Is algebra legal in Oklahoma?

It's taught in all the schools, so I would say so.

And because you didn't exercise at all it's literally impossible that you've lost 7-8 pounds. See King's post.

So, you are saying the numbers lied to me?

I am not an idiot, Lief.  I know what I lost and what I didn't lose.  I know the science behind it, too.  Do not talk to me like I don't know anything.

Yes.

It's physically impossible for you to lose that much body fat in 48 hours unless you ran a marathon, consuming nothing but water the entire day, and then fasting again with nothing but water for another day, running another marathon, and slept the entirety of the time in between both marathons.

If all takes is just eating hotdogs and sitting around and pounds fly off, nobody would be fat. Nobody would exercise.

So, I should NEVER believe my scale?  If it lied to me this time, when every other variable was the exact same, how can I ever believe it?

Gonna have to go with fluctuations in lunar gravity on this one, Bushie.

I understand lunar gravity.  I'm still going to go by what the scale says and how my clothes fit.

I was trying to be honest and sincere earlier when I posted my realizations after this stomach bug, but instead of being greeted with encouragement, I was criticized and talked to like I was an idiot.  Is that your definition of a friend?

You feel like garbage because you keep eating crap, Bushie. Don't you understand? I can't imagine treating a stomach bug with a McDonald's burger full of all kinds of preservatives.

If you want to feel better, look better, and get over your ailments, you know what you have to do. You just don't want to do it.

I refuse to believe my weight had much to do with the stomach bug.  It's been going around.  It was just my turn to catch it.  My weight doesn't affect EVERYTHING.  You all act like if I lost 150 lbs, I would never be ill or have any more problems.  I know I need to lose weight and I am not refusing to do it.  I just don't believe it's the cure to end all ailments.

However, my post from earlier still stands.  My goals are the same.  You can judge me for them all you want, but it does not mean you're correct.  Allow me to prove you all wrong.  I'm not on the road to 300 and it will be very easy to lose weight.  The weight will drop off fast at first and then slow down some.  I know how to lose weight.  I do have a goal of being into the 270's by the time I reach my doctor's appointment on March 24.  I am at 286 now.  We'll see how it goes.

If there is one thing that is true, this stomach bug has taught me a few lessons especially on how to keep my body from getting too hungry while only having a limited number of calories.

Give me a chance here, guys.  I know you've been giving me chance after chance, but let me prove to you and to myself that I can do this.  I think we'll both be surprised.  I know you guys would love to be proven wrong.  Of that, I have no doubt.  I firmly believe that with just a little discipline, I could reverse the trend that King so correctly points out.  The goal of the 270's by March 24 still stands.  I will still weigh every day, but I will only count my weight on Sundays.  I won't get too worked up over daily fluctuations, but I need them just to have an idea.  I will record the weight every Sunday morning at the beginning of every week.

So if you know how to do it, can you explain it to us?  What is your plan for getting down to the 270s?

First, I am going to eat more at home, including more on weekends.

Second, I am going to limit my going out to eat to twice a week including weekend.  A week goes from Sunday to Saturday.  If I go out twice during the week, then I must eat in on the weekend.  If I eat in all week, then I can go out twice in the weekend.  Fast food and ordering pizza count as eating out.

Third, I will drink more water.  I will go to Walmart after the interview tomorrow and get a Brita water pitcher so I can have fresh, clean water on hand instead of having to drink straight from the tap.  I am going to aim for 6 8 oz. glasses of water a day

Fourth, I will walk at least 5 days a week.  I will start at 10-15 minutes and work up from there.

Fifth, when I do have a pop, I will make it exclusively diet.  While it may not be the healthiest thing in the world, at least it would have no calories and as was pointed out a few pages ago, getting the weight off is paramount at this stage.  I can worry about the other health consequences later.

2, 3, 4, and 5 are good. 1 is still too vague. What are you going to eat at home?

Where you eat something is not what makes something unhealthy. I'm pretty sure I can eat healthier going to McDonalds every day than you could eating at home. You have to make healthier choices. You need to eat vegetables. Every day. Even if they are slopped in butter and cheese.

I'll incorporate more vegetables and lean meats.  I may have an occasional frozen burrito or two, but I'm going to try to work in more vegetables, lean meats, and fresh fruit.

OK, so what are you going to have for dinner tomorrow night?  Because just a few hours ago, you said you were putting off spaghetti until Monday, because it was the weekend, so not a time for cooking at home.

Not that spaghetti is a great option.  But if not that, then what?  What do you actually know how to cook, if you're actually going to be making dinner for yourself five nights a week?

I've been thinking about it over the past few hours and depending on how things go, I may either have soup or fix some grilled cheese sandwiches or maybe have grilled cheese with tomato soup.  That was a great, albeit light, meal as a kid.

See, you aren't serious. You're already looking for ways to renege on your goals. Your goals need to be

1. I'll eat more vegetables. (Period)
2. I'll drink more water. (Period)
3. I'll walk 20 minutes a day. (Period)

No, "I may occasionally blah blah blah"

You cannot say I am not serious by anything I said.  Everybody should have a cheat meal every now and then.

Okay. That's one meal. What else are you going to eat tomorrow?

Nobody can last a whole day on one grilled cheese and some tomato soup.

I'll have to play it by ear.  I do anticipate another light day as this bug still works its way out.  I'm not going to go out at all, I know that, but what exactly I'll have, I'm  not sure.  It depends on how I feel.  And, don't ask me about Saturday.  I have absolutely no idea for Saturday.  Let me get through today (Friday) first.

I hear all the doubts that have been posted, but I'm not going to listen to the doubters.  I am a man on a mission to healthier living.  I look forward to getting out and taking a brief walk today after the interview.  It will be a very nice day to do so.

I am a man on a mission to healthier living.

Don't sing it, bring it.

You have some big shoes to follow of previous forum fats, who truly changed their lives - Patrick, Torie, Mr. Moderate, and Big Daddy TX and others I'm sure.   (If I missed anyone sorry, I did that off the top of my head and you all deserve to be congratulated.)

I look forward to joining the ranks of the previous heavyweights.
