Secretary of Defense Santander runs as a strong populist with some paleoconservative and nationalist bents. Some admiringly call him and some derogatorily call him "The Other Side of the President's Coin." Despite being broadly popular with the base, he is also considered one of Southern Gothic's ties to the Republican Congress.

Governor and former Speaker Clark Kent runs as a right-libertarian who is pretty hawkish. While the incumbent Democratic President is more right wing on social issues than economics, the Governor has the opposite leanings. Despite being good friends with Chief of Staff Kingpoleon, Kent is essentially the starkest contrast to the President in the field.

Former Secretary of State SunriseAroundTheWorld runs as an outsider somewhat similar to Governor Kent. However, Secretary SATW runs as the neoconservative candidate. He also is not against the death penalty unlike Governor Kent. As a hawk, he very well could be considered somewhat out of touch with his globalistic ideals. However, he stands strongly by his principles on foreign policy.

Businessman RINO Tom runs as the quintessential moderate for the business community. He often accuses other candidates of not understanding the roots of conservatism, as two of them are strongly protectionist. Despite a somewhat abrasive manner, his popularity is somewhat heightened after his unsuccessful run last time. Although his primary campaign did not do too well then, he is still considered the most electable. On ideology, he is essentially the opposite of the President being somewhat more moderate than Kent on economics.

Lieutenant Governor Classic Conservative may not be very experienced, with only two terms in the House and two years as Lieutenant Governor to his name. Despite some controversial statements, he may very well do better than expected. If not, his base is somewhat more traditional on economics than Santander. In spite of this, Classic Conservative would probably endorse Santander as the only "true conservative" left.

Who will win? You decide!

(I encourage everyone to put this in your signature to get the most votes possible in this poll.)

Huh. Santander must really not like his job if he's running against his employer.
I just thought it would be interesting to see.

It will be. Remember, a vote for Santander is a vote for Southern Gothic Wink

While Santander leads, Businessman RINO Tom has picked up steam.

((Right now, at a brokered convention with someone leading by more than ~7.5%, I'd require the opposition to get 60% to beat the front runner.))

Gothic, you must keep me on as VP if Santander wins! I'd be a much better attack dog against him than I was against Goldwater/would be against Tom. Tongue If he doesn't, then I can spend more time with my family if that's your desire.

Am I allowed to vote in this primary, or must I vote for our presumably unopposed nominee?

A Santender vs. Southern Gothic race will likely produce a lot of 1960-esque echo chamber calls.
That's why you should drop out and endorse me. Tongue
At this point, the votes look like that should go the other way around. Tongue
Now, yes, but when I said that, it was pretty close to being tied. I swear I lost votes somehow.
As I said before:

Businessman RINO Tom(R-IL) - 47.7%
Defense Secretary Santander(R-KY) - 36.8%
Governor Clark Kent(R-CT) - 7.9%
Former State Secretary SunriseAroundTheWorld(R-VA) - 5.3%
Lieutenant Governor Classic Conservative(R-MA) - 5.3%

While most candidates had a regional base, SunriseAroundTheWorld placed second or third in the Upper South, the Midwest, the Mideast, and the Northeast and the Southeast, along with winning all of the Mid-Atlantic. RINO Tom pulled out a victory at the end with his major wins of Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington. Santander's strong showing may mean a third party run if he so chooses.

RINO Tom, President Gothic, choose your running mates! Santander, feel free to choose yours if you are running third party.

I'm not the VP!? Voting for Tom unless you do something about Sahrawi independence before November, "President" Gothic.

My position on Sahrawi independence: Whatever LLR wants.

So, as president of the United States and leader of the free world you will do everything in your power to ensure Western Sahara gets independence from Morocco? And upon winning you will appoint me Secretary of State or at the very least let me chair a committee to make Western Sahara independent?

Deal! Endorsed!

All of the above will be heavily "considered" Wink

Hey, I've worked hard as SoS. I negotiated the killing of all of Paflagonia for only the price of a well-worn haypenny. I will continue these feats as SoS in Round Two.

Your resignation would be accompanied by mine as well. I was actually considering recommending you become National Security Advisor, too.

NeverAgain is possibly my top ally in the Cabinet, and I intend to stand by him in these times. I would support making LLR Special Envoy to Western Sahara or Chair of the Western Saharan Committee.

If you want a debate, I'd prefer not to host it. I think that if you want veto power over my descriptions, that would be good enough.

Mr. Southern Gothic, are you pro-life?

I believe in limiting the number of abortions performed no matter what. Now, that does not mean making abortion impossible to get through legal means. I'd prefer that we have better funding to women's health programs and better, more practical sex education for our youth so that we can prevent a good chunk of possible abortions. Beyond that, I would only support abortion in cases in which the woman's life is at risk, or in cases of rape or incest.

So largely pro-life, but just pro-choice enough to get leftists to vote for you. Clever Southerner.

Do either of you object to these descriptions:

Businessman RINO Tom(R-IL)/Fmr. State Secretary SATW(R-VA): These two outsiders have no experience in elective office, besides SATW serving a term as Lieutenant Governor(2010- January 2013) before being appointed Secretary of State. Before that, SATW had been an Ambassador to India(2003-2005), Israel(2005-2008), and Germany(2008-January 2010). RINO Tom, meanwhile, had a successfully ran a large business that has largely been developed beginning with transportation and technology. It then branched out into renewable energy and factories.

President Southern Gothic(D-LA)/Vice President Ice Spear(D-PA): The Democrats have denominated their strong ticket. While President Gothic's populist tactics and energy are appealing to independents and centrist/liberal Republicans, some of the base is turned off by his social views. While Vice President Ice Spear is boring, his traditional Democratic lines have made him a vital part of holding the coalition together. Ice Spear was nearly replaced by Secretary of State Never Again, someone largely popular with the base and Rockefeller Republicans. However, he stayed on the ticket for stability and to keep mainstream elements happy.

Are twelve hours to object enough?

Can I run third-party on the Liberal party ticket?
You can, provided you can find a running mate.

As a result of the upcoming general election, I feel it is necessary for me to resign as Secretary of Defense. I thank the President for the opportunity to serve this nation and wish him and his supporters all the best.
Speaking for myself at least, I would think it best for you to finish out this term rather than starting up new hearings in the middle of campaign season.
