It would be an uphill battle, but I’m not entirely convinced that they couldn’t possibly win it even in a wave. At the very least I’d say it’s more likely to stay red than LA-GOV is to stay blue (in a Biden midterm, obviously).

He must have read my meme post about him winning MD-SEN 2022 while Democrats hold AZ/NV from two days ago. In all seriousness, it would take a miracle for the GOP to hold this seat at this point. Likely D, and that’s being generous to Republicans.

The Pundits rate this race as Lean D/Tossup, Dems will win by 20+

The Pundits only care about open seats and incumbency.

This race is definitely not as safe for Democrats as NY, CA, or HI. Doesn’t mean the GOP will hold it (they won’t), but there’s definitely even less winnable states for them than MD at the state and federal level. Someone like Cuomo would probably win reelection no matter what he did in office or how unpopular the D legislature was in his state, honestly. Can’t say the same about MD.
