My first vote was in 1980 for Ronald Reagan.

I liked Reagan's platform of limited government and strong defense.  I also thought that Carter was a terrible president and that it was actually dangerous for him to continue in office.  I continue to believe that, and that belief has been reinforced by his recent behavior.

I never paid much attention to Anderson.  I hated Carter and wanted him out, so I wasn't going to waste my vote on somebody who couldn't win.
He could have won if the Reaganites had gone moderate for Anderson.

Sorry...I don't know that much about Anderson, but I am sceptical to voting 3rd party in two-party systems. I think Reagan was needed at that time.
We realyl needed a president who would take action behind congress's back and cause huge deficits.  That's what we needed.

Lol...we needed someone to stand up aginst the Soviet Union. But I will admit to not knowing such a lot about John Anderson.
I supported Anderson because I felt both carter and Reagan were/would be bad presidents, and I was right.

I'd have voted for Carter, but I'd consider Anderson if I lived in a state that was uncompetitive.

Like I said, I was only 7 years old when I supported Reagan. I never supported him after that.
When I was seven, I supported candidates because of the way they looked.  I didn't know any better.
