On Fox News last night Kerry and Edwards denied any Edwards-Kerry or Kerry-Edwards ticket. Kerry will probably pick Edwards. A man on Fox said he does not think Hillary will have any part in Presidential Election 2004.

Hillary doesn't need the VP slot.  all the VP basically does is increase name recognition, and Hillary doesn't need name recognition.

I hope Rice runs in 2008. Her VP could be Giuliani or Frist. A Rice-Giuliani or a Rice-Frist ticket would hurt the democrats.

Well I'm sure that this "man on Fox" is right.

Reality check:
Kerry hasn't won the nomination yet.

He will, believe me.

87% of those you listed are white.

Why not include Carolyn Mosely Braun?

maybe b/c she isn't very likely to be Kerry's running mate?

Spoilsport. Wink

Anyway, it simply has to be John Edwards. A Kerry/Edwards ticket would provide the perfect balance between North/South, liberal/moderate, statesman/charisma-driven politician, ugly duckling/poster boy, etc. A winning combination if you ask me. Grin

How about an Edwards/Kerry ticket?

The problem is that Edwards is unlikely to win anything outside the South, and that won't bite. Kerry has won the electability battle, and that was all Edwards had left.

No, they'd better focus on the Midwest - they can't win in the South.

They don't have to, making it a battle ground would be sufficient.

We can win in the south, but we need the midwest more.

Ifr the Dems lose WI, MN, and IA, they've lost the election. If they gain MO or OH, they've won.

Vilsack, Gephardt, Evans, Harkin, Bayh, Dayton, O'Bannon, Doyle or Durbin would all be good choices from this area, although some might disagree with some of them....Cheesy

The most recent NC poll I seen shows Bush leading Edwards 52-45%, but it was taken at 11/22-24/03, way before Edwards started to rock. I think he could pull some southern states close, at any rate.

I don't think O'Bannon is going to be chosen, unless you are going for the Mel Carnahan vote.....

Southerners are going to vote for a lib from Massachusetts because Edwards is on the ticket as VP?  Uh, OK.

No, I wouldn't go that far as to suggest that, but Edwards will definitely provide a Kerry bid with more of a balance than, say, Bayh or Vilsack.

Of course the Democrats don't have a prayer in the South, but a Kerry/Edwards ticket could definitely do well in the Midwest and several battleground states like Ohio or NH.

Bayh has appeal across the midwest.

Bayh helps more than Edwards in the battleground midwest.  It would only make sense to have the less appealing to the midwest Edwards if he could bring along a southern state or two.  He can't.

There was a CNN poll out yesterday I believe which had Edwards over Bush 49%-48%.

True but I wouldn't put too much stock in that poll or any other until Bush starts his campaign.  Right now, we've only heard from one side - all day, seven days a week, week after week.

I don't think Democrats have a chance in the South REGARDLESS of who the Pres and VP candidates are they put up.  The only Southern state they could win is FL.

Facing this the Democrats need to campaign in go after other GOP areas (like AZ and NV).  Facing that I think the best move by the Democrats would be to put Bill Richardson on the ticket.  Charismatic, from NM, and Hispanic.
