It is nobody's business.  If Palin were knocked up with some other guy's kid, it wouldn't be our business...until she started preaching family values and condeming John Edwards, etc.

But this is her child.  It's off limits.  End of discussion.

BS, JSojourner!

BS!

I love you man, but you're getting awful unreasonable.

The conservative creed is that you should not have a baby until you get married.

The conservative creed is that conservative mothers should teach abstinence!

This is a big hit to the McCain campaign. Period.

Actually, the "conservative creed" is that you get pregnant, you have the baby.

Good for Palin for practicing what she preaches!

Aside from that, it's none of our business.

The story only came out about Bristol yesterday.

If the Democrats want to attack a 17 year old pregnant girl, be my guests.  Smiley

The way things are going only BRTD and Opebo will supporting Obama.

Here is Governor Pain's statement:

Ha, looks like the conspiracy-mongering nuts did us some good for once! Thank you idiots!

Wait...uh...how were they right? How does this make their previous theory true?

This isn't exactly ideal but I don't see how this story is relevant. The other one would have been because it invovled lying and a coverup. This one doesn't.

I didn't say they were right. Just that they forced this to be revealed. I doubt it would've been released as it appears to have only been so to put an end to that stupid rumor.

I think when the baby dropped out somebody might have noticed.

JJ, does anything negative ever happen to John McCain and the Republican Party?

Not in the last ten days!

One charge has been "Palin is too fundamentalist Christian."  So, we get a chance to see her putting those values into action, sweetly and lovingly.

The Democrats are now in a position where they have to attack a seventeen year old girl and motherhood.  Please, please, start the attacks.

I still want to know if anyone feels that this ought to be relevant in the campaign.

the 'open minded' liberals will think this a huge issue.

they will be riding their moral high horse.

those disgusting people are more self righteous than any religious person ive ever met.

And remember these make up most Obama supporters and you'll be lumping yourself with them unless you vote for McCain.

the disgusting way the obama campaign and supporters have treated palin and her child is pushing me to vote mccain.

why does obama hate women so much?  hell women raised him...after his daddy fled to impregnate more women on different continents.

I think this is the point.

Complete Spin:

Look at dear sweet Sarah Palin.  She a mother that loves her daughter and supports her daughter.  She takes care of her disabled child.  Her values are good and pure.

Look at those nasty, evil Democrats attacking her.  They hate women.  Look what they did, stealing the election from that nice Hillary Clinton.  The don't want women to come up in the world.  They hate motherhood, women, and nice people.

We don't need mean people like Obama and Biden running the country.  We need nice people like that kind Sarah Palin and someone grandfatherly, like that heroic John McCain.

Now, I'll turn off the spin.

I would not be surprised to find out in six months that a Republican operative set up the Daily Kos story, just to get the issue out and frame it.  Yes, I am that cynical and Machiavellian.

Trust me, they are stupid enough to do so.

It will start looking like Jsojourner's map then.

Teenager having sex -> Teenager having sex without precautions -> Teenager is a slut -> Teenager has bad judgment all-around -> Teenager's mom didn't raise her right -> Sarah Palin would be a terrible Vice President

Ay, logical leap here.

No.  Democrats attack Palin and Bristol -> Democrats held back Hillary -> Democrats hate motherhood in general -> Democrats hate women -> Democrats are mean for hating motherhood and women -> Americans don't want mean Democrayts as president -> Vote McCain.

Equally logical and a lot more emotional.

Actually JJ, that the Kos story was a Rove plant has already been posited on a couple of blogs, left and right.  And I agree.

Fortunately, Obama is not taking the bait.

I don't have any proof that it was, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was an operative.

More than a few posters took the bait, including some of the normally good ones.  "Stop Sarah Palin" took the bait, hook, bobber, pole, tackle box and a couple of oars.

Now, if someone wants to point the "terrible" Democrats, they can just Google and find a few thousand posts, and say "Look at what these nasty evil Obama Democrats being mean to Sweet Sarah Palin.  They hate women and motherhood."  It becomes the "mean men" versus "Sweet Sarah Palin."

If works with pro-lifers, it works with pro-chioce women that are at least a little angry with the perceived "mistreatment" of Hillary Clinton.  It might even work with men.  Biden has to watch his butt in the debates.

There have been several negatives with Palin that have been converted to positives.  I have never seen anything like the last 10 days in American politics before.
