I don't see Davis losing ever with the districts drawn as they currently are. But if the Democrats are going to try then they are going to need to get some stronger candidates in there.

So Chris Kennedy picked Ra Joy, father of a victim of gun violence, to be his running mate? I can respect that this ticket is trying to bring about serious change for gun violence, which IS truly a big issue for Illinois. But this does seem to confirm that the party establishment is writing Kennedy off. Its tough to see how a pretty weak Kennedy will be able to overcome the machine.

New primary poll from Capfax (that I'm not putting in the poll board b/c I don't have the full crosstabs):
JB 39%
Kennedy 15%
Biss 6%
Daiber 1%
Hardiman 1%

Sample size 1,154, MoE +/- 3

Kennedy has become Jeb! Leading the first few polls and collapsing later on to a billionaire, nice.

You're so right, Kennedy is totally Jeb! I hate it cause I supported/support both guys, but they are nearly impossible sells as candidates.

Does anybody with a better knowledge of Illinois politics know what impact a Bernie Sanders endorsement of Biss in the final month would do to the primary race? Biss is trying hard to align himself with that sector of the party, and the 2016 primary was only a narrow win for HRC in IL.

It could mean something if Kennedy has left the race or is running at basically 0. Chuy has backed Kennedy, and it was Chuy's people that got behind Bernie in 2016. If they can build that coalition again with a Biss vs Pritzker only matchup, then I think there is a chance that Bernie could push Biss over the top.

Hopefully this means the end for Pritzker.

At this point I cannot feel good whatsoever about his chances against Rauner, so I too hope this means he's done.

I think I have to buy into CK being a plant. Starting to hope Biss can pull it off next month.

New D Primary Poll

Pritzker 32%, Kennedy 26%, Biss 22%, 16% Undecided

Me thinks no one knows who will win until late Tuesday night or after.

Me thinks we know who will win, just not by how much and who will be #2.

Rooting for Ives (Rauner is terrible and deserves to go down badly, the general is Safe D either way, Ives’ floor (not her ceiling) isn’t lower than Rauner’s, etc.), Lipinski and Quinn.

Great selection!

Lol ok Pritzker's got this...

My wife and parents cast their votes for Raoul. My parents voted for Kennedy, my wife through her vote away on a nobody candidate (but thats ok!).

Yeah how about that Cardinal Cupich mention!!

I think I have to believe the controlled opposition story. I wonder what Kennedy was promised...

Well, time to shift to the general, and I will throw my full support behind JB!

I feel bad for the guy. He doesn't deserve the bad rap he gets. I hope we haven't seen the last of him!

At some point would love some analysis on the Rauner vs. Ives map. Ives won the collar counties, western counties, and most of the southern counties. While Rauner won Cook and Lake, the collar counties of the collar counties (most of rural northern/central Illinois), and St. Louis-region Illinois.

It also looks like these downstate counties weren't coin flip, w/in margin of 50/50; it wasn't a checkerboard. They were often won by 5-20 points. So I'm just really curious about these possible subsections of downstate Illinois. It doesn't seem extremely intuitive.

I sure hope it is. I agree he wasn't a bad governor but he is a terrible politician. AG Harold would have been more likely if Quinn had been nominated.

I mean I agree with you. That's why I was talking up Raoul to my friends and family (couldn't vote for him myself)

I feel bad for Blago and his family.  It's ridiculous that someone so harmless can be locked up for this long while repeat gun offenders walk the streets.  He's already been barred from holding IL office for life.  What he did is small potatoes compared to what most Chicago politicians do every day - let him go.

It's absolutely true that many have gone free while doing much worse than Blago and I do agree that the length of the prison sentence seems excessive, but I really have no problem with him sitting in prison if it helps deter others from corruption. This feeling is emphasized by how much of a joke he has always treated the ordeal - I've never really seen any sort of regret or realization of wrongdoing from him.

I'm not defending Blago, but what's the justification for McDonnell and Menendez going free, while Blago doesn't? Admittedly, I'm not tuned into the nuances of the cases, but they all seem fairly clear-cut corruption cases to me.

My opinion has always been make Blago work in a toll booth for the rest of his life / until his debt to the state is paid off, while he can go home to take care of his kids at night.

The Tribune has been acting as a far-left rag for the last few years.

How is endorsing Rauner for reelection acting as a far-left rag? Am I missing something?

Yes, you're missing the fact that Green Line is a right-wing hack.

If anything, Im a left wing hack.

lol k
