I was going to go grocery shopping yesterday. . .until another driver T-Boned my car and sent it to the tow lot.

I decided to walk to the grocery store today.  I was gone over an hour, and I was only able to carry half my normal weekly haul.  How do people without cars manage on a day-to-day basis?

My insurance company arranged for a rental car tomorrow, and the rental agency is 2.3 miles away.  I could have them pick me up, but I normally leave for work 20 minutes before they even open, so I'm considering walking again, weather permitting.  Or I may just break down and call a cab.

One of my friends mentioned last night her sister's 20-year-old kid had changed names and wants to be referred to as "they/them".

All of us 50-somethings (i.e., late 40s to early 60s) were discussing how hard it was to adjust to gender-fluidity, as opposed to the old "classical transgender" issues.

The Weather Channel is saying there's a 70% chance of a tornado in the KC metro today - the highest chance of such severe weather since I moved here last summer. I am definitely anxious about such a threat here on the Plains; these aren't Florida tornadoes...

So far, this has been a weird storm.  Major damage 10 miles from here, and I've barely seen rain.

I had thought advertising was already everywhere, but I learned this evening that it could actually get worse.

While I was pumping gas, an annoying State Farm commercial began playing on the gas pump's screen.  In the past I've been known to cut ties with businesses that tick me off, so that's pretty much the last time I ever buy gas from BP.

What happens with State Farm remains to be seen.

I have no idea how feminine I have to get in order for it to count as "living in-role".

I have no experience with this, but I would think you'd have to meet at least some of the following:
1.  You answer to a recognizably female name.
2.  You use women's restrooms, when they're available.
3.  You dress in a feminine way when you go to school or go shopping.  (That's the hardest to define.  Wearing make-up or earrings or carrying a purse seems like a good-faith attempt to meet this.  A woman could probably better answer what it entails to "dress in a feminine way".)

Like I said, I don't actually know, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.  I'm just trying to logic it out.

Aren't I supposed to know this sort of stuff?

You weren't born knowing any of this.  At some point, you have to learn it.  Apparently, you didn't have to know it before, so you're learning it now.

I did a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation for a group I belong to.

Everyone told me I did a good job--even if I am overly fond of the syllable "um"--but it took me an hour to stop shaking afterwards.

Two years ago, a great company was bought out.  Ever since, my workplace has moved away from the feeling of being a family and has become ever more corporate.

Today, one of my co-workers "had his position elminated".  I guess the higher-ups in home office are enjoying the financial bottom line that comes from outsourcing work to India.

My monthly card group missed March.

Last night, we got together online.  Ten people with 8 cameras in 6 different homes.  (I had one website on my PC and the other website on my laptop.)

It was great seeing everyone again, but we all agreed that someday we will need a group hug.

I signed up to be a poll worker in November.

I originally wanted to volunteer for Wyandotte County, but it turns out you have to reside in the jurisdiction you volunteer for.

Why Wyandotte?

I figured that Johnson County would be more likely to have residents with leisure time, so Wyandotte would have a smaller pool to draw from and would need volunteers more.

Also, I'm only about 4 miles from the county line.

I never bothered with going Greek, as at least at my school, it seemed like the number one was I Tappa Kegga, and that didn't appeal to me.

I thought the names were "I Felta Thigh" and "Tappa Kegga Bru".

And no, I never knew Del Tachi's name's meaning until 5 minutes ago.
