This whole election is turning out to be a logistical nightmare on everyone's part. No one seems to know what the hell is going on with anything.

Huh
Seems quite normal so far.

Would the Unionists want any concessions in return for supporting Cameron? Or would they just be okay with supporting fellow (small c) conservatives?

Absolutely - they'll do a deal, but will want concessions, most particularly protection of the NI block grant.  Which of course Mr Cameron will agree to (despite comparing NI to the former communist bloc, in terms of state subvention, last week).

Fermanagh and South Tyrone has been in recounts for hours. Apparently 8 votes separate the two candidates.

No. There have been 2 recounts, the latter has Gildernew ahead by 2 votes.
A 3rd recount will begin later this morning.

I'm still reeling from East Belfast, to be honest.  I know that Robinson had that scandal, but how the hell did the Alliance go from third place with 11% in 2005 to a win now?

I can only offer a series of fractional reasons...

The party were already on the up by 2007 - Long got 19% in the Assembly election in 2007.
Long has had an increased profile as Belfast Mayor recently and  through general media appearances (she's arguably gotten more camera time in the last year or so than party leader David Ford - she's an articulate and passionate advocate for the party). And the Party itself has had increased profile in recent months as they joined the NI Executive.

Also looks like Long got a lot of the PUP vote - she has a good working relationship with Dawn Purvis.

And of course Robinson's vote fell given the many scandals he, and his wife, have faced since Christmas.

Right now, even if Lab/LibDems win the 13 seats of, they will have less than a majority.  Even throwing in SDL, they could not form a coalition with a majority.

Clegg can only be the kingmaker for the Tories.

Question, is the Alliance MP basically a nonsectarian Unionist?

The Alliance MP is more or less a Lib Dem. They're officially allied, same as UCU-NF and the Conservatives. Just the Alliance and the LDs have never had the opportunity to work together at Westminster before. I would expect Naomi Long to sit with the LDs.

We'll have to wait and see on that. In her initial statements, though acknowledging the LibDems as a sister party, I took from it that she saw herself as something more of an independent liberal than you describe - more akin to the SDLP/Labour relationship than the UCUNF deal.

She said she was open to receiving a phone call from either Brown or Cameron and would be willing to negotiate a deal in the best interests of E Belfast and NI, IIRC.
