Many people probably think the Allies were losing the War until DDay

What? It was clear to anyone following the news that the USSR in the Eastern front had the upper hand by the fall of 1943.  Even on the Western Front, Allied forces were halfway up Italy by mid-1944, clearly winning the war in the air, and clearly winning the war in the Atlantic.  If you read accounts after the war the common opinion of regular citizens in Berlin as early as 1941 was that the war was not going well for Germany.  By 1943 most people in Germany most likely accepted that defeat was inevitable and that there has to be an all out effort to avoid total defeat.
