Man, what is up with wisconsin voting in these "nonpartisan" (but partisan) races? edu chief, court justice, etc.

The state voted for like 13 points for the liberal justice and only a few months later, trump loses the state by half a point.

Huge differences in turnout numbers.
State Superintendent races are heavily Democratic electorates.

is there a particular reason why?

the state is as purple as they come on national, gubernatorial, and senatorial races.

Why the blue tinge downballot?

People tend to favor Democrats on educational policy in general IIRC

It's the gubernatorial race, so definitely not.

Is the fact that this race has been relatively quiet compared to other competitive races good for Dems or GOP?

I'd be very surprised if the Democrats lost this race. They have a fundraising and enthusiasm advantage right now, and there's evidence that Democrats have an advantage in special elections in this era.

"I've seen enough. Janet Protasiewicz wins the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, flipping the majority to 4-3 liberal control."

A very pathetic reference to the Willie Horton ad.

Right to Work and Regulatory reform may be ruled as unconstitutional

I already support Protasiewicz, you don't have to try and convince me.

Come in WI rurals , vote like how rural areas do in other states please

I never took you for one to support 1849 abortion bans?

I care far more about maintaining right to work laws , and Walker’s regulatory reform laws than I do about abortion laws

But do you care more about right to work than democracy? Dan Kelly is an election denier.

What is the last off-year that an incumbent party has done so consistently well in?
Probably Bush in his first term

And y'all had 9/11 to coast off of. That's how bad the modern GOP is.

Tonight, the people of Wisconsin won reproductive justice and a chance at having a real democracy.

Goodness won today.

At least you're finally admitting that abortion is why the GOP loses races.

When the hell did I of all people deny this lmao

Every time I've blamed abortion for costing the GOP in a race, you're quick to pivot to 'election denial'.

Both are to blame.

I didn’t expect the republicans to handle this issue so incompetently . Turns out they handled it just like they did with Obamacare in 2017

At this point I don't think it's a matter of competence. The Republican position on abortion is fundamentally unpopular, and voters simply do not trust Republican politicians to handle the issue. There's no way to sugar coat it. It is a losing issue, the Republicans "defund the police".

At this point, I think we can conclude that "Trumpism without Trump" is not a viable campaign strategy. Trump was the selling point, not Trumpism.

Where does MillenialModerate fall here? Guy calls every election incorrectly with an impressive amount of confidence, never admits he was wrong, and doesn't even disappear.

He doesn't count because his predictions are not genuine. He is a troll.

I already forgot WI doesn't have term limits. He might be the best Dem to keep the seat, though it might be more difficult in a 2nd Biden midterm unless the GOP nominates another weirdo.

Even in a Biden midterm, why would Dems want to give up an incumbency advantage?

Does the WIGOP just want to keep losing? I can't imagine a scenario where they won't pay electorally for this if they go thru with it.

Wisconsin's state legislature is fundamentally undemocratic.

Republicans have gone from coping to full-blown fascism now.

It's crazy that this is even possible, but in the past 10 years, Republicans have transformed (= rigged) Wisconsin districts to produce a 70% Republican state legislature - in a state that usually votes 50-50.
Now do Nevada

This is not the Nevada megathread. You must be confused.
