He has no chance. He'll drop out during the Ames Iowa Straw Poll, otherwise he embarrasses himself for good.

To be fair, people were saying that before his 2012 run too...

If Santorum can learn the lessons of the election of 2012, he has a decent shot at winning the nomination and a slender chance of winning the White House.  I'm doubtful tho.  In 2012, he got taken off his intended message too easily and diverted into the social issues.  However, if Santorum keeps his powder dry, a Jindal/Santorum ticket is a possibility.  Santorum doesn't come across as completely bat-guano-crazy the way some righties do so he could provide needed base support for a more centrist nominee.

But in 2012 there wasn't a serious field. In 2016, there are tons of people who are actually good/okay at their jobs or are liked by the base that will be running. Santorum doesn't stand a chance.

Groundwork is important, and Santorum will have the advantage of having already gone through this before.

We don't know if '16 will have a stronger field than '12 or not.

As I've said before, people thought Daniels and Barbour would run in '12. They didn't. And other "strong" candidates for the presidential nomination were ruined, like Ensign and Sanford.

I hope he gets the nomination.
