I remember that on the "Politician Lookalikes" thread someone posted that Gaetz resembles Glenn Quagmire. The resemblance is there, and it's even more striking now with all these disgusting sordid details coming out, but that's still being a little bit unfair to Quagmire. He isn't as much of an idiot as Gaetz is in all his Trumpian hubris. The breadcrumbs Gaetz left aren't even crumbs, they're pretty much full baguettes! That's the most unbelievable part of this unbelievable scandal that just keeps snowballing: that Gaetz seemed to think he'd get away with everything. GOP politicians, other than Trump, really need to get it through their heads that they can't replicate Trump's lack of shame to the same extent. Trump is an enigma in that sense, and that's probably why he is so idolized by a political party and political persuasion whose only principle seems to increasingly be a will to be able to get away with whatever they want, whenever they want, no matter what and no matter how objectively objectionable or criminal.

I would say that northwestern Florida deserves better from their representative but...well...they kind of don't. If Gaetz does resign, get arrested, or what have you; at least his successor will probably be similar enough in ideology and personality so it won't be much of an adjustment.  They'd probably be patted on the back if they never have baggage anywhere close to this.
