Passed by the voters on November 6, 2012. The first state to do so.

And don't let anyone from Maine tell you otherwise. Wink

I guess it comes down to which State certified its results first. Tongue

I was going by CNN calling us first on election night.

Considering how pathetic it is, CNN isn't worth being used as a guidance for anything.

fortunately my state was the first.

Hardly.  The SJC put the ball squarely in Finnerman's court (Goodridge v. Mass. Dept. of Public Health) and Finnerman chose to ignore it.  Probably a wise call, on his part.  Still, let's be honest:  only a handful of states have actually passed this.  Your state, like Iowa, has de facto legal same sex marriage, and it got same sex marriage about the same time Iowa did, and by a similar (judicial) process, but it certainly did not pass same-sex marriage, at least in the usual legal sense of the term "pass" when it comes to states "passing laws."  Do not make misleading claims.

To the question, I'm not sure about Pennsylvania.  It is populated by the sorts of people who probably will not want the legislature to pass it, and it doesn't have a long history of binding popular referenda, so I assume that it will not have same sex marriage till the federal government requires the states to recognize it.  At that time, it will do so without resistance.  Like Massachusetts, Pennsylvania is largely populated by folks who will accept judicial fiat, whether federal or state.

I don't see the legislature passing it before 2020 even if the GOP loses its relatively strong grip on the legislature.

This is Oklahoma.  We'll have it eventually, as I believe it is inevitable, but barring a federal amendment changing things, I'm guessing it could be 2030 or even 2040.  I'm 31 years old, and I fully expect to be in my 50's before Oklahoma legalizes and recognizes marriage equality.

At this point, it'd take a constitutional amendment to our state constitution to pull it off.
We voted in favor of an amendment banning it in 2004, so I would agree.  Hopefully it will never happen, at least not within my lifetime.
That being said, I would love to see Michigan pass an amendment allowing civil unions.

It will be legalized nationwide before Kansas legalizes it.

NEVER. Simple as that. If SCOTUS rules stupid in the next few weeks Pence will refuse to honor the ruling (and would be right to not honor the ruling). In other words it would take military force. It will be permabanned next November if SCOTUS rules smartly. Kansas won't stand alone in its fight to honor traditional values.

I hope the first legal gay marriage in Indiana takes place in your hometown.

Yes, let's keep the government out of our lives, except when two people want to decide who to love or if two men or two women want to adopt a baby.

Let's stop kidding ourselves now. You aren't a libertarian. You're a socon.

Look at my social views outside of the relms of abortion and marriage and you'll see that I'm more libertarian than socon. Even on these two issues I harbor a more federalist (as do Rubio and Rand Paul) bent.

Gass.... If it ever comes to Indiana it will be in Bloomington.

I didn't realize your state elected a king instead of a governor.

The SC will likely strike down DOMA, but I don't see them going as far as a Roe like decision to force same sex marriage on the states.

I expect it will take South Carolina a while to overturn our amendment barring a more activist approach from the high court.

Republican contolled legislature and a history of pub (or conservative dem) governors?  I won't live to see it.

Best chance for the foreseeable future, Grumps, is a court case, but I agree with your observation. And the Dems tend to be of the blue collar variety. At some point a referendum would be a possibility, but if they feared it passing they probably wouldn't bring it up.

Pence's treason trial will be interesting.

I suspect Prop 8 will be struck down this year.
