But carried on forever, it would simply make massively long and ridiculous names, so it doesn't work.

Anyways, I don't see what's wrong with Eisner as a standalone name or why you would want to saddle her with anything as preposterous as "Washburn".

The whole point of a hyphenated name is to abandon the misogynistic tradition of only the male's last name being passed on to the children.
Ah, I was suggesting to just use the cooler name, as is basically what people in Germany do nowadays. And which in this case is the female name (though the male name is no bad either.)

I have finished the world map I had been working on for the past several months.  It is of a planet called Sanaya, the setting for that story I mentioned.

It does work if you use mine or Fallen Morgan's rule.

Thank you. I seem to have trouble trying to convince her otherwise Sad

Pfft whatever. Just cuz Eisner is German sounding.

Every person I've met with a hyphenated last name invariably ends up with the nickname "Hyphen."  Whether that's good or bad is another story.

There are practical considerations: fitting that long mess of a name onto a check, signing forms, having people at the DMV struggle with your name for half an hour...I get that just from having a slightly non-standard yet still relatively easy name.  A hyphenated thing with a lot of syllables would be a mess.

Last Friday, my eye began to hurt. Saturday night, my right eyelid was completely swollen, and it got even worse on Sunday. Thankfully, it is starting to go down, but it still is very uncomfortable and my eye looks terrible.

:o Congrats!

I just tried on almost all my clothes, I'm giving away nearly half of them cause they don't fit anymore/too old. And I made a list of what I need to buy for school next year. Exciting things when the boyfriend is gone!

I'm contemplating the possibility of federal aid for college, so that I can go to the University of Washington like I've dreamed.  It seems like otherwise, my parents would be unable to pay for it, even though they have another year to aggregate funds, since I'll have to live up there for a year to gain residency.  I don't think it's hypocritical at all.

Thunderstorms happen in the parts of the country where the entire place doesn't shrivel up and burst into flames every year.

Indeed.  I often have little pity for the people who have built their ticky tacky stick McMansions on the hillsides as the fire licks the eaves.... and then once saved at great taxpayer expense, slides several hundred feet into the neighbor's property the next winter when they get normal amounts of rainfall.

My favorite is when they feel they have to find SOMEBODY besides themselves to blame... and they get everyone believing "NO It's not bad forestry practices and people encroaching on fire and mudsline prone areas!  It's GLOBAL WARMING.  It's YOUR FAULT TOO!!  NOW PITY ME!!"

Why does it rain here every day? I swear we've had severe thunderstorms for the past week, and every time I go to the gym, it's raining.

That's funny. Thunderstorms don't happen here.

This is not Southern California. It makes me very angry when people say things like that.
