Probably reading way too much into this, but this tweet made me pause for a moment. He doesn't usually say much about specific political figures on his personal account.

To be honest, I was disappointed he didn't speak up for Joe Biden during Ukraine. He should have defended Biden, who did nothing wrong.

Liz would be a bad pick. She doesn't add a lot to ticket, but is polarizing. Kamala, Klobuchar, Demings, Whitmer or CCM are much better.

TBH Obama getting involved would have just polarized it more.

I sure hope Joe picks someone who is somewhat appealing to progressive voters. Don't make the same mistake as HRC.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-08/campaign-update?srnd=politics-vp

Quote
Joe Biden could announce his vice-presidential pick well before the Democratic National Convention in mid-August, he told supporters Wednesday just hours after opponent Bernie Sanders dropped out of the presidential race.

“There has been some discussion from my team about maybe this should be announced before the usual time,” Biden said during a video fundraiser after a donor suggested a June announcement.

“But it’s going to take a while just to get through the vetting and get down to making a determination,” he said, adding that a team is preparing to begin vetting potential candidates. That process could take weeks or months as lawyers examine public and private records and Biden interviews the finalists.

Personally, this sounds like it's down to Harris and Warren. Klobuchar, Whitmer, even CCM don't exactly add anything to the ticket that Biden lacks.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand how Whitmer is a possible VP choice? Isn't she very busy dealing with the pandemic?

There are a lot of soundbites of Warren criticizing Biden. I'd be very surprised if he picked her.

If Joe can forgive Kamala for almost tanking his campaign at the beginning, then he can forgive Liz. Welcome to politics.

There was also a soundbite of poppy Bush talking about "voodoo economics".

Warren is over 70 and will be replaced by a Republican. IDK why people are itching for her to be on the ticket.

Whitmer needs to be focused on her state.

Klobuchar is exactly like Biden. She brings nothing new to the table.

Harris or Duckworth please.

Whitmer, CCM, or Duckworth would all be good picks for different reasons.  Baldwin needlessly risks a Senate seat.  Klobouchar (*barf*) would add nothing whatsoever, but probably wouldn’t be a disaster either (although she could depress turnout).  Harris would be a Dan Quayle tier pick: a bad pick who would definitely hurt Biden, but also wouldn’t do any irreparable damage.  Warren and Abrams would be Eagleton-level disasters.

Have there been studies or polling showing the actual impact the VP has on the final choice? I'm still with the belief that VP pick pretty much doesn't matter. I have preferences but I can't think of any (serious) potential VP contender that would have changed my vote in any election since I've been old enough to vote.

I don't get why people don't think Harris isn't progressive either. She's very progressive?
