I would be worried if I were an Obama supporter.  At this point on Thursday in Iowa, Obama was starting to close the gap a little bit

At 13%? No, he wasnt. Lets give it some time. The cities will make the decision, and they wont be around for a while.

I'm going more by time frame, and I don't think "rural" NH is vastly different from "urban" NH.

I like Edwards, so tonight sucks either why.  I'm just excited to see a close race.

Hillary Clinton just "won" the the New Hampshire Primary.  Note the quotes.

She down played her chances, cried at just the right time.  That is going down in the history with Muskie's tears, Reagan's "I paid for this microphone," Dole's "Stop lying about my record," and Bill Clinton's "They can me the Come Back Kid."

Along with a little of the Bradley Effect to help her, I suspect.

However, let's see where this one ends up.  But, all in all, I agree with you.

I think the Bradley effect is limited; the problem is polling in NH.  The joke has been that the voters  in NH tend to lie to pollsters.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/state/#NH

I think the problem is also that Independents might have thought Obama had it in the bag.  Mainly.

I agree that it's limited - probably only in Boston exurbs.

I would also not eliminate the late deciders either.

So, I think we agree.

J. J.'s Second Rule of Elections:  "When a politician or activist talks about a large group of voters that, a. aren't being polled, or b. really going to turn out and swing the election, there is no such group."

Obama violated J. J.'s Second Rule.

I will report on Manchester, and Concord from now on, as they are the biggest cities.
Manchester:
Clinton 46%
Obama 31%
Edwards 16%
Concord:
Nothing so far.

This just doesn't make sense: huge turnout, large number of independents on the Democratic side, every single poll had Obama winning.

Huh

Clinton winning by 15% in Manchester?

I can't say I was expecting this... I also can't say I'm terribly disappointed with this.

This is getting fun again.

There must have been a glitch earlier, because Randy Crow went from like 460 votes to now having only 7. don't know which candidate benefited from that though

This could end up being one of the worst public polling failures ever. Sigh...

Ugh.  Yes, Obama had a classy response to Hillary's tears - crocodile tears or not.

Did anyone read the venom that Edwards had to spew about it?  Sickening.

It does make sense.  Primaries are DAMN hard to poll.  Sure independents might say they support a certain Dem or Rep... but do they show up?  And we all know how quirky those New Hampshoanians are. (I made that word up, I know)
