Doug Jones: "with the exception of college football, there is a hesitance to say you are from Alabama"

[url][http://www.breitbart.com/video/2017/10/20/doug-jones-exception-college-football-theres-hesitancy-say-im-alabama//url]

True comment, similar one could be said for west virginia minus the football

This is great news for the Moore campaign. Republican voters love sexual harassment from their politicians.

Theyre not fans of their canidates assaulting minors, especially white female minors.

Also look at LA 2015, it does matter, Trump is just unique

That could work. Get enough democrats and sane republicans behind him and Strange could pull it off.

Absolutely not. Democrats shouldn't lift a finger to help a Republican write-in. If Alabama Republicans want to vote for a child rapist on their own, that's on them

Well, I'm skeptical that anything will change. After Access Hollywood, everyone and their brother in republican politics wanted to make Pence the Presidential nominee, but Trump said he was staying in, pointed to some random Clinton accusers to distract, half-apologized, and threatened to Prosecute Hillary in front of 70,000,000 TV viewers at the 2nd debate. Two weeks later, all was forgotten and forgiven. There are more than two weeks left in this thing, and Alabunga is way more conservative than the country.

The tape is nothing compared to this.

If the state GOP does decertify Moore and runs a write-in Strange campaign, does Strange win?

Look at who on the forum is calling for a Strange write-in a campaign and make an inference.

I would assume that the split in the right-wing vote would allow Jones to win, but this is still Alabama after all.

If the race is 50-40 right now for Moore that could flip it easily if Jones keeps his support

Does Alabama have run-offs for federal races?  Roby got less than 50% in 2016 and there wasn't a run-off.

No

No it can't. That last 10% will be impossible

If 15% goes for the write in its very possible, no run offs.

Awful thought:

Moore steps down.
Sessions resigns as AG to run a write-in campaign for his old seat and wins.
Trump appoints a new AG who's not recused from the Russia probe.

Same result as with strange probably, maybe worse for gop

also whats the dem base level in Alabama?

Probably right, but I seriously doubt Strange would do very well as a write-in candidate, and the potential impact this story will have on the outcome of the race is probably exaggerated.

Strange running as a write in could likely lower moore's vote a good bit.  The other bit is it could depress his turnout

In a special election with an unpopular Republican president in the WH, I'd say 42%.

Strange running as a write-in would be great (though unlikely), even if he only gets like less than 10%. Jones doesn't need to get 50%, just the most votes, and he could hypothetically win with 45%.

If strange could get 15% or so even better

The best thing for the national gop publicity wise is to pull the endorsement/ nomination.  If he wins its massive ammo for dems in 2018

Well the way things are heading maybe in a month.....

Anyone want to take a crack on what the county map will look like?

I'll make one later today. I think Jones is going to win by 3-5% now assuming Moore doesn't step down.

Are we for certain that the Alabama Republicans aren't deplorable enough to vote against him?

I'm assuming Strange is going to run as a write-in and take 10-15% of the vote, allowing Jones to win.

Well, if there's one thing this thread has accomplished, it's highlighting all of the deplorables, twats, and trolls I should have on ignore.

Dude. No one is even trolling.

It's a special election. Staying home is definitely an option for Republicans who won't vote for Jones.

If this is leading where it appears to be, then let's just say I hope we don't have another Ossoff/Quist situation.

The National Dems aren't getting involved and most of the ads are pro-Jones biography ads right now. They are using a good strategy, IMO.

That and you know neither of them were accused of sexually assaulting a minor....

The main thing that is telling here: where are the character witnesses for Moore? Where are those who are saying he is honorable and just? The most we have heard is: "Liberal attacks! Leftist lies!" or even worse "Even if...I will not vote for Jones." No one is choosing to testify on behalf of Moore, just attempt to undermine these women's credibility.

"Many people say my friend Roy Moore is a pederast, but let me say this: He is also a massive racist and probably the most bigoted man to ever hold public office this century, and that is why we cannot afford to lose this election."

Who said that?

Pretty obvious sarcasm..... I assume....

After thinking about it overnight, my wife and fully hope the citizens of Alabama  will elect Moore.  The Democrats, who for over 40 years supported a man who allowed a young woman to die in pond and helped his nephew tear apart a woman who accused the nephew of rape have no moral standing to attack Moore.  The same folks supported a President who provenly took advantage of a a 21 year old lady, who was accused of  rape and numerous other sexual offenses.  They even wanted to let his wife piggy back him into the White House again.

Where was the Republican leadership in those 40 year not denouncing Kennedy and demanding every year that he leave the Senate.

I registered this summer to post here.  I hesitated because so many of you seem to have so much more knowledge than I do.  This is my first post because I am really angry.

All I got from this is that you are cool with pedophilia.

Yep, can we start banning these morons now? They're an insult to basic human decency and morality.

I mean surely defending child abuse crosses a line for bannable offense?
