But Atlas told me the "moderate republican contingent" would turn on Trump and support John Kasich or Jeff Flake in the primary against him!

I'll totally vote for John Kaisch or Jeff Flake in the primary. And when Trump wins it I'll vote for whoever the Dem is. Party needs major purge though before I'd truly support it again though.

Yeah, my point is that people like you are in a deep, deep minority and Atlas needs to stop pretending they're some major political force. Nearly every Republican who currently disapproves of Trump were already part of the 10% of Republicans that didn't support him in 2016.

If the Republicans are more loyal to Russia than their fellow Americans, they can't speak of nationalism, nor can they legitimately criticize football players for kneeling for the flag. Even if Colin Kaepernick were to burn the flag on his front yard every day, there would be no grounds for criticism from Trump supporters.

If the next one up after Trump says Russia is bad they'll believe him, they go with the strong man. Romney was always right in that Russia is our greatest enemy, and Republicans agreed with him then too.

So they're willing to sell out their country for partisanship, even when that selling out pertains to illegal behavior. How is that different than what Robert Hansen did, or a government agent who passes secrets to Russia for money?

Because they're "real Americans." True patriotism is defined as whatever they believe, support, or oppose.

This. Please stop looking for logic and consistency in Republicans, because you're not going to get it.

I mean, they will do what they want, but the Republicans are always the ones claiming to be nationalist and accusing Democrats of lack of patriotism, including certain posters here, who claim that Democratic patriotism is "conditional." So we're going to throw this in their faces every single time they start going down that route.

You're still assuming they use logic, have principles, and maintain consistency. Cut it out. Wink

"According to a new poll from the Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling, 79 percent of people who voted for President Trump say he should remain even if collusion is proven, and 75 percent said the entire Russia story is “fake news."

WOW, so basically the Trump voters are saying that the media is lying. It is all fake news. Trump is telling the truth. No collusion. But even if Trump is actually proven to have been lying to them all along and that the media was right and that there was infact collusion, then it doesn't even matter. Trump should still stay. That's authoritarian devotion right there. These people should move to North Korea.

It amazes me that Atlas users continue to be surprised by this stuff...

20% of 46 is 9, right? So 37% of the electorate is pretty terrible. Unless I did my math wrong.

Higher than that. 10% were "unsure."
