This is probably how tons of people who voted for Bredesen in the past feel. They may like him personally, but they can no longer vote for any member of the anti-white hate group. Hopefully he can make up for them with Williamson County RINOs, but I'm not optimistic.

I'm not going to try and argue the position that he has a great shot at the seat - TN has trended R so much over the years that it's hard to make that case I think (even if polls are encouraging right now), but I would note that Bredesen won his last gubernatorial race 68% - 29.7%. That is a massive win, so there are probably a ton of people still alive today who voted for Bredesen for Governor. It's not surprising to see those kinds of comments - assuming they are telling the truth. I think even back in 2006, many of those voters would had to have been Republicans too.

He could conceivably lose many, many of those kinds of previous 2006 supporters and still win by a slim margin. OTOH, as Griffin has pointed out before, Bredie leaned on older voters back in that day, and younger generations then were more and more Republican, so a decent chunk of his previous supporters are probably not even alive anymore.

I see Blackburn is leading in a new Gravis Poll.... the thought of Blackburn being elected to the Senate is a bit unsettling.

Why? Motormouth Marsha probably wouldn't even be in the top 5 worst Republican senators.

Even if she wins she's gonna spend national money to do it. And that's national money not going to AZ, NV, MO, IN, ND, etc. So mission accomplished for Bredesen already - if he wins that's extra, and always has been.

Except Dems will presumably be throwing money at Bredesen as well.

Yep: it's worth noting once again that even Kerry won TN senior citizens in 2004. Most of those people are dead (and definitely so in the case of the Greatest Generation); I'd be shocked if they comprise much more than 5% of the electorate at this point - especially since Southron Olds die younger on average.

This is why Bredesen would be leading in the teens or 20s if he ran for governor again, instead he just had to jump in for the senate race, way to go...

Actually, he would be in worse shape running against a perceived moderate from the Nashville suburbs.

I think it's pretty clear that Bredesen would do better in a less partisan and more local statewide race than this senate one.

We will have to agree to disagree.  The reason he has traction in the Senate race is that Blackburn is a little hard for some moderate Rs to accept.

Alright then, too bad we'll never really know in this life, but I will concede to you this, you are right that while TN is now a heavy red state, they prefer more moderate and tame republicans especially when dompred to their southern neighbors. Bill Lee is a much better fit for TN than Blackburn.

Almost missed this.  The U. S. Chamber has endorsed Blackburn.  That should be helpful.

The Chamber of rich globalist RINO's? Yeah, going to help Blackburn turn out the rural base.

Don’t play stupid. You know this will help with the moderate GOP base in East Tennessee and the Nashville suburbs. Likewise it will not hurt with the rural base.  The Chamber knows it does not want a Democrat Senate.  That is especially true with the growing vocal socialist wing of the Democrat party.
