Miami Vice.

First half was kind of boring, second half was kind of fun, but man, what a cheesy and unbelievable script. You could also tell Jaime Foxx and Colin Farrell weren't really trying that hard.

Doomsday. Good looking post-apocalyptic movie with zombies.

Huh? There were no zombies in the movie.

Domino.

What a mess. Keira Knightley wasn't even that attractive in it.

Southland Tales.

First of all, the idea that California was the major swing state of the election was really annoying, even though that's the type of thing you have to let movies slide on. But otherwise...well Kelly please just try to keep things simple. Donnie Darko was fairly simple. This movie was too long and it still tried too many things in that length. In a way it was Kelly's attempt at a new Pulp Fiction (after all it's his sophomore effort like Pulp Fiction was to Tarantino), but things don't always work that way.

Paranoid Park.

Gus Van Sant, it does not make you more of an artist to shoot long tracking shots of people doing things like walking. Please get that through your head.

Other than that, I thought it was an interesting look at things similar to the brilliant Mean Creek, if only the style had been more like Mean Creek than Van Sant's wanking.

Well my dad saw it with my mom and he hated it (I'm not surprised.) She liked it though.

Hated it? What for?
I thought it was funny, improvable in parts, nothing to recall in fifty years' time of course.

He told her afterwards "not really a guy movie". Like I said, I'm not surprised, he never likes movies like that.

I laugh at the fact that some people actually went to that movie because they hate Paris Hilton. That's like watching Titanic because you hate Leonardo DiCaprio.

Snow Angels.

Definitely NOT a feel good movie. Interesting contrast to Juno.

A History of Violence.

An interesting combination of a troubled family drama and an action movie that still does both very well.

I wanted to see 21 until I read all the terrible reviews. Now I'll wait for the DVD.

Anyone seen Funny Games?  The trailer looked very interesting but one review I looked over said it actually got rather cliched through the majority of the movie.

I've seen the original and this one is supposedly basically identical except it's in English, and it sounds like that review missed the point completely. Anyone should be warned though that it'll leave you rather pissed off and disturbed since that's exactly what it's supposed to do.

As I said 21 is a good movie for everyone besides BRTD since he has weird ass views on stuff.

Uh, it has a 31% on Rotten Tomatoes. I might still like it, I've liked movies with similar or lower scores before, but it does mean I won't spend $8 and drive out to the suburbs* to see it. I'll wait for it to hit the cheap theater at least.

*Isn't it funny that it's actually easier for me to see indie and arthouse movies than mainstream ones? There's only two mainstream theaters in Minneapolis, one's only a 6 screen, the other is a single screen and it's the mentioned cheap theater (though it usually shows 5 or 6 movies at a time, just with only one showing a day.) All the big multiplexes that show mainstream movies are in suburban malls, meaning I have to drive further to see the latest big budget blockbuster than some obscurish art flick. Kind of ironic.

Despite many funny parts and a great concept Idiocracy is definitely Mike Judge's weakest work. The "stupid people" idea that was the whole point behind Beavis and Butt-head doesn't translate too well to live action, or a movie where the "normal" people are the protagonists rather than the idiots.

In The Valley of Elah.

Good story, great message. Exactly the type of leftist movie I love.

Bobby.

Excellent. And all the people in the movie and how they felt toward RFK reminds me of modern day support for Obama. Oh what a chance we have...

First, you need to go to cheaper theaters ($6 for me), second WHAT THE F**K?! That movie was a true comedic masterpiece, just like the first. Best film of the year so far unless you count Snow Angels.

Il Decameron (Pier Luigi Pasolini, 1970): My first Pasolini movie and to be honest not all I was all that impressed.

Wow. So you started with something other than Salo? Yes, you do suck.

My favorite part is when Kumar imitated the girl Harold loved sucking European guys' dicks.

That was pretty great. I didn't like how they sort of made Bush into a good guy but of course you could still hardly call it a pro-Bush movie.

I just found out that that hilarious looking new Seth Rogen movie I saw the trailer for at Harold & Kumar is directed by David Gordon Green, the guy who directed Snow Angels. Even more awesome!

Are you talking about pineapple express? That movie looks pretty funny too.

Yes. Though Snow Angels was obviously not funny.

Persepolis.

Very entertaining and well done. They dropped the ball a bit with that ending though, could've tried something a little less anticlimatic.
