That KS-3 seat is still about D+9 I believe. Hoffman says he would not vote for it today. Map is DOA.

Ad Astra map has passed the Senate committee on a party line vote.

Senate appears to have the votes, the Ad Astra 2 plan passed 26-9. Party line vote (2 Ds 3 Rs absent) with the exception of GOP Senator Dennis Pyle.
Why is it so hard for Kansas Republicans to be good people.

Kansas House Redistricting Committee has advanced the garbage Ad Astra 2 map.

It will likely pass the full House and Senate, get vetoed by Kelly, with her veto being overridden, and finally with the fairly-liberal Kansas Supreme Court striking down the map.

Kansas House has voted to adopt the Ad Astra 2 map by a 79-37 margin. Having passed the Kansas Senate 26-9, the map now goes to Kelly's desk to likely be vetoed. Both chambers did not vote for the map with a veto-proof majority, so this could get interesting.

Why is it called Ad Astra? It's quite a silly name.
Because they really liked the 2019 movie?

Further updates - the Senate GOP is now losing votes because the caucus is getting tired of forced sitting around in the chamber waiting for someone to show up who likely wouldn't change the outcome. House schedule has delayed resumption until 8pm, which suggests they might or might not take up the vote depending on the senate.
This is incredible. What a disaster. Ad Astra 2 is screwed. If the Senate votes to override the veto, there's no guarantee the House will follow suit. If the House follows suit, the map will die in court. It seems there is a very strong possibility the Senate doesn't get the votes and the map dies tonight.

This is not a fight worth putting up, and I don't know why the KS GOP pushed this map so hard when a least change option was presented and would've easily passed.

Another update. Thompson showed up and voted yes, Masterson switched his vote to a no:

Senate adjourned for the day. The vote to override the veto failed today with 26/27 needed "ayes", but because of Masterson's vote switch, they can reconsider tomorrow.

The easier chamber to override has now cleared their threshold, 27-11.
Chances that the House fails to do it? If they don't, the KS SC will surely strike the map down if it gets litigated to there. This is not a fight worth being in, what the f**k is the KS GOP's problem?

Reminder since there will be a vote today that R's can only lose 2 House votes and succeed. 84 votes are needed for an override and they have 86. They did not have this majority last time the vote came up, but some members were out. There are rumors they have the votes, and rumors they don't.
Welp, onto the Kansas Supreme Court I guess. A functioning democracy shouldn't have to resort to litigation to achieve fair representation.

There are some members not present, so it looks like we're going to have a repeat of the situation in the Senate from a few days ago.

Currently YES votes are at 80 out of 84 needed to override.

Reps Jacob and Lee have returned. Hoffman has not yet.

I hope this map gets litigated. It deserves to suffer the fate of OH and NC. KS GOP is one of the most idiotic, spineless state parties in existence.

Thank god for the KS Supreme Court.
