Why should sports count for more than academics? There's a wide range of scientific studies that state adolescents tend to perform worse on average the earlier their classes start. The CDC, for instance, has said that the biological development of teenagers is not conducive with starting school much before 8:30AM or so.

Not disputing that people would stay up later, but let's face it: high school students don't go to sleep at the same time as elementary school students.

I think 9-3 is fine.  It would almost assuredly raise some GPAs.

From an Australian point of view, yes, your days start way too early.
I start at 8:50 and finish at 3:15

Yes, but starting later would affect students with jobs and after-school activities so I'm not sure if implementing later hours would be a great idea.

It was always 8:30 - 3:30 in HS, with Zero Period (rare) at 7:20 AM and 8th (also rare) ending at 4:30 PM.

Kids should start at 6:30am and finish at 1pm. Then they go home and spend more time with their parents. Homework and sports in the afternoon.

Our teachers don't get paid enough as it is. How would that work with a second set of teachers?
