Depends if she's trained on how to use a handgun...if she's not, she or another innocent person is more likely to come to harm than the gun actually saving her.
If she has firearm training, and the gun is properly licensed and registered, and she has passed psychological tests, then I guess I will have to be ok with it, even though I don't like it.
If a person can safely use a gun, why do you not like it? This is actually one of the things I noticed that turned me against gun control, that gun control advocates think out of more of a general aversion toward guns rather than actual concern about the harm guns cause (especially since they often admit banning guns wouldn't do much to prevent this)
