You know that weird thing where you hear someone talking and you can know their next four or five words before they say it? It always freaks me out, but today I got like 16-17 words ahead. Creepy!

This place never works between 9:15am and 10am European time.
Digging around I found this gem. Now they can never make fun of Americans for saying stupid things like “European time” ever again!

If you want a good and proper flight, you do Delta. If you don’t, the Discount Airlines(Allegiant, Southwest, etc.) are for you. There’s no excuse for American/United.

Especially if for some English/literature/writing class, teachers and professors love alliterative language in papers, at least in my experience.

Just escaped death by a tenth of a second. My car missed being hit by mere inches. I’m shaking.
I’m sorry to hear that - although you’re probably safer in a car. When my mother was pregnant with my elder brother, she had to run away from a car that ran up onto the sidewalk over several feet of grass.

Quick snack before my transcon @ united's secret VIP restaurant @ EWR.
Fun fact! Raw oysters are (probably) still alive when you eat them. They just can’t do anything due to the fact that their rudimentary/primitive pseudo-spinal system has been severed.

I tried to join the Nonconformist Club but I just couldn't fit in.
Did you try their tap dancing club? They don’t conform to any of those collectivist “harmonies” or “rhythms”.

I've reached the max # of users ignored. Please ban them so I can remove them!
Just unignore me!

(You’re on a list somebody gave me of people who have ignored me. Unsure of the truth of it, but most made sense, besides you.)

Was only Voter #5 in my precinct when I went to vote in our mayoral election this morning before work (the incumbent Republican mayor is running unopposed).  There are some contested alderman races, but it's all non-partisan, which probably makes people not know who to vote for.
That’s sad that voters need to see parties to know who to vote for.

I was at Cracker Barrel with my fiancee recently and we were holding hands across the table (literally nothing very PDA, just holding hands) while waiting for the server to come take our order, and some old ass woman who I guess was racist was alone at the table next to us and started staring at us, it was awkward af and after a couple of minutes my fiancee glared at her and she looked away and shook her head like she was so disappointed or something lmfao.

The crazy thing is where I live this is a pretty common reaction, definitely not the first time we've got this. I hate the south.
It could be worse. The first year my parents were married, they got not one, but two Christmas cards that said “To Ethel and Darkie*”

*Not verbatim, as for instance my mother’s name is not Ethel.

Becoming a liberal has been the best lifestyle choice I've ever made.

Hmmm let's see.

1st Santander: Monarchist
2nd Santander: Trumpist
3rd Santander: Libertarian
4th Santander: Liberal

Fancy what the next political regeneration shall look like, but while you're a liberal one...could I have a jelly baby?
I’ve yet to hear Santander renounce monarchism. I like to imagine it’s a belief of his while he’s changed his other political beliefs over the years.

So, um, I’ve made 25 posts today because I’m not holding back. Normally I don’t post ~1/2 of what I think on here, or I write up tons of posts and don’t post them. What do you guys think? Should I be more selective in my thoughts or say (almost) everything I think on here?

I had an interesting conversation this evening. As part of a work thing I had to interview an English language learner about their background and their high and low points learning English, and I ended up with a Venezuelan asylee called Valentina (not her real name). Being a Venezuelan asylee, Valentina had a lot to say about the role that ~socialism~ has played in her life, none of it good. It was an interesting exercise in understanding perspectives very different from my own; we laugh at the Venezuela bogeyman when Trump uses it against Elizabeth Warren or Andy Beshear or whoever, but for somebody who's actually lived and suffered under Maduro, it strikes a real, visceral nerve.
Sometimes we encounter facts - and in this example, people - who contradict our own worldview. It’s very dangerous, as oftentimes we forget or ignore them too easily, so I applaud your seeming willingness to think more on the subject.

Of course, I’ve never met the countless victims of centrism, so I may not be the best voice for the sentiment. Tongue

“As a boy, the very words 'Liberty Bell' and 'Independence Hall' fired my imagination and made a profound and lasting impression on my mind. Throughout my struggle to secure national freedom for China, I have continuously dreamed of the day when she would assume the full stature of an independent, democratic nation.”

So, just a few things.

The Good News: Social Security is going to be paying me more on account of rent and no longer having a job starting in a couple of months, meaning I can contribute more to my household. I'm writing a whole-ass novel with what I hope is a winning concept (socially-critical science fiction war trilogy with an LGBT+ flavor in later books), and the ideal is to actually make money on it. I might also be moving soon, which is bad news in terms of my scenery but good news for my bank account and personal morale.

The Bad News: Oh sweet Jesus my stomach hates me.
So you’re rewriting the Red Rising trilogy? Tongue

Realized the hard way that I'm bisexual because I have fallen completely head over heels in love with a male friend of mine.

One problem though. He's gay. So rip me.

During the DeSantis-Putnam primary, my friend who was involved in the upper level of the DeSantis used to roast Putnam for hosting public BBQs attended only by members of the Young Republicans wearing Columbia shirts.
What, did DeSantis supporters instead sport the much higher quality Magellan shirts?

Straight boy crushes are just one of those things that happen Smiley
Can confirm. But it could be worse - they could kiss you, grope you, and sing a love song to you as a hilarious joke. PM me if you want the full and saddest story ever.

This is very nice, but it’s not so much depressing as it is hilarious. Sometimes it is better to laugh than to cry.

A pair of finches have returned to their nest in the lantern on my front porch after being absent for two years. I checked the nest today and found five eggs. Going to do my best to defend them from the blue jays and crows.

That *should* be okay. But if birds begin reusing nests too much, mites will infect the hatchlings.

I have realized in this exact moment that Del Tachi's name is most likely a play on words on Delta Chi (ΔΧ). I am feeling kinda stupid for this.
Kinda felt like this when I realized BRTD (probably) stands for Better Red Than Dead about a month ago.
I didn’t know either of these, and I’ve been here for five years.
