This is building up to be a very good Democratic and Republican primary campaign, and maybe a great GE scenario with the Trump factor.

Can I join as...Fred Phelps for the Democrats? Since, ya know, he ran in several state Democratic primaries in the 90s.

Phelps... Would be seen as a joke candidate and wouldn't feature be on polls. Think of Patrick Little in CA. If you wanted to take a Christian Right Democrat I would suggest Ronnie Musgrove, or Phil Bredesen, both who were Governors at the time. You could even change history and have Musgrove win reelection.

Heck yes, I'll run as Orrin Hatch.

I can vouch for him, he'll be a good addition to the game. Even for such a new poster.

Has anyone jumped in as Hillary yet?

I remember doing a 2004 game run by NHI where I was Hillary...so I want to see if I can actually win the nomination this time around.

Otherwise, I'll play as John Kerry.

Im already Kerry

Then, if no one's taken Hillary (which isn't quite clear) I'll happily take her.

That person decided to take Gore so Hillary should be open

Hillary Clinton-announcement speech

September 30, 2003, Chappaqua, New York

I am delighted to announce that I am running for President in 2004. I have long held the dream that I would be the first female President, and in this Republican field, I see an opportunity.

I know people will say that I am not ready, or that the country is not ready for a woman to be President. I will point out that when Margaret Thatcher ran for Leader of the British Conservative Party, did people say that Britain wasn't ready for female Prime Minister? Or that when Benazir Bhutto was campaigning for Prime Minister of Pakistan, did people say that Pakistan wasn't ready for a female Prime Minister. I have no doubt that we are ready for a female President and beyond that, I'm confident that I'll win.

Hillary as a Republican?

Hillary's kind of underestimating her fellow Democrats here. If she can beat Gore, which she thinks she can, she believes can win both the nomination and the General Election....though she was a Goldwater Girl once upon a time, so I could mess with that, if you want Wink

Honestly, This is the kind of Hillary RP I would expect. She thinks she's untouchable and this arrogance leads to some embarrassing early defeats when she focuses on the non Iowa & New Hampshire states.

Are we allowed to use other players characters past (Pre - Dec. 2003 obviously) against them?

Im not the GM, but in any other game the answer is yes. I know what you're asking this because 4 of your primary opponents voted in favor of the war.

About Tom Harkin, Democrats, I have gotten 3 requests for him so far. Should I leave him as a non endorser or keep it with the first person who asked for him?

Depends who's asking.

Other than Hillary, I think Gore would be the most obvious candidate for Harkin to back.

I'd stay with First come First Serve, and then change it later on if need be.

I'm just going to presume by that, that Kerry got Harkin's endorsement. Am I right?

*blushes and turns red* I don't wanna say....

And we've got the first sparks of the 2004 Democratic Primaries!  Tongue

May the best woman win.

Don't kid yourself. It's going to be Hillary.

I don't see any candidate that has a good uncontested base of support.

Let's be real here. Hillary's got more name recognition coming in than any non-Gore candidate, so she should be a top contender at a minimum, barring something going horribly wrong. And if Gore drops out, I'd argue she's the favorite.

Well the fun part about these is that they allow us to change history, and pride comes before a fall.  Kiki
Hillary has Name recognition an what else?

She has at least some semblance of a voting record, and quite frankly, with her high name ID, if Gore drops out/bombs (which looks unlikely, admittedly) she could emerge with nomination relatively easily.

She also could finish in last in Iowa/New Hampshire as well.

Honestly If I preform poorly in Iowa. That could be a major problem.

We may want to limit endorsements, must games limit to two per turn
I asked and he said that as long as we keep it within reason it's fine. This reminds me of when I read through Spammages old game.

Do I have to post a campaign schedule / will I be docked for not? Seems sort of pointless to me.

Oh come on, the campaign schedules are fun (though a bit tiring to write.)

I'm holding at four right now. My only complaints are that neither Daschle nor Gephardt would endorse anyone at this point, I'm not sure Ted Kennedy would endorse Dean, let alone anyone at this point, and Madeline Albright would eventually endorse Clinton.

Oh, and here's a link to the article used to make the ad against Shaheen, in case I get a more serious complaint.

I think we should give the Republicans and the other Democrats a chance to catch up, so far it’s just been myself, Gore, Kerry and Clinton really.

I'm fine with the first turn ending on New Year's Day if necessary.

I’m out and I’m endorsing Hillary due to the endorsements system being god awful

Can we just nullify Russ Feingold being in this game. This player is nothing but a troll and a bad one.
