I just gotta say, I think there's a reason why so many people dislike Calthrina that's probably subtle to many but very obvious to others.
Unlike the standard political hack on this forum who takes every opportunity to bash politicians or even voters of the other party, Calthrina steps it up to the point of routinely attacking
posters of the opposing party. Sometimes he does this by naming individuals but quite often he's apt to critique with very broad strokes. Any time he wants to make a non-white-noise political point it's not about American big-L liberalism or the Democratic party, but instead about the ideological unfairness of left-leaning posters on this site. Why are people surprised when people react strongly to such criticisms, especially when they are often baseless and irrelevant?
Has anybody looked at this thread about the Obamacare ruling recently?
https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=309265.50. The
entire last page is Calthrina repeatedly trying to pivot the entire thread to a discussion about how left-leaning posters on this site are bad for trashing the federal judiciary. When someone challenges him and says nobody in the thread is doing it, he pivots back to the same attacks without ever providing evidence. It's a classic Calthrina derailment in action.
I think a poster getting this much negative attention for attacks on the abstract "Trump voter" or "midwestern populist
" is one thing, but that's not what he's doing. He's going after
fellow posters, incessantly, in settings where it's rarely relevant and barely appropriate. This, combined with the fact that users he disagrees (including myself) have tried to give him genuine advice for how to be a more constructive poster who attracts less negative attention, and he flat out ignores those comments. I'm not saying that justifies some of the treatment he gets (someone changed their avatar and username to mock him recently which was truly bizarre and uncalled for) but people on this board should stop acting shocked and sanctimonious when a user here has a pattern of getting personal and other users start to punch back.
