It is only an executive order -it is highly unlikely that this Congress (or that following the November elections) will compound that decision by approving anything resembling the Emergency Quota Act of 1921.  It will take a while for immigration levels to return to what they were before the Trump administration, but it won't take a century like last time.

AP-NORC poll: Few Americans trust Trump's info on pandemic

President Donald Trump has made himself the daily spokesman for the nation’s coronavirus response. Yet few Americans regularly look to or trust Trump as a source of information on the pandemic, according to a new survey from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Just 28% of Americans say they’re regularly getting information from Trump about the coronavirus and only 23% say they have high levels of trust in what the president is telling the public. Another 21% trust him a moderate amount.

Confidence in Trump is higher among his supporters, though only about half of Republicans say they have a lot of trust in Trump’s information on the pandemic — and 22% say they have little or no trust in what he says about the COVID-19 outbreak.

He's so right.  And it is refreshing to see a conservative criticize fellow conservatives.  They have no real concept of sacrifice.  We would never have won the Second World War with these people if they can't put up with what basically amounts to an inconvenience.

The coronavirus has reached the heartland:

Trump's claim that cases are falling everywhere is contradicted by his own task force's report, obtained by NBC News, showing the virus spreading far from the coasts.

Most Americans have no intention of letting Trump off the hook for testing, God bless them:

The Pew Research Center survey finds 61 percent hold this view, compared with 37 percent who say responsibility mainly falls on state governments.

I bet if Trump or Pence were tested positive, they wouldn't report it. Unless they get sick (which I don't wish despite strong dislike), nobody would notice since neither can actually get out much anyway.

If Trump does test positive, then that is basically a death sentence for him.  And trust me, people would notice if they don't see Trump on television after a while even if his administration lies about it.  Especially if Pence starts becoming more visible all of a sudden.

Dr. Fauci's days (in the White House) are numbered:

But Paul’s line of questioning reflects an increasing conservative skepticism of Fauci — a skepticism that has grown over the past month in part thanks to people like him questioning Fauci’s advice. And a new poll this week reinforces that this skepticism is slowly taking hold: The CNN poll suggests a significant decline in GOP regard for Fauci’s expertise, when measure against other similar polls of Fauci in recent weeks.

While 84 percent of Republicans said they trusted the information they received from President Trump about the virus, just 72 percent said the same about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, while just 61 percent said the same about Fauci, the CNN poll found.

That split in regard for Trump and Fauci is something that simply didn’t exist even a month ago.

Senate Republicans and the Trump White House have struck a deal on coronavirus testing, the details of which will be released tomorrow:

The White House and a key group of Senate GOP negotiators struck a deal on Wednesday for new coronavirus testing funds.

The forthcoming proposal, text of which is expected to be released Thursday, will provide $16 billion in new funding for coronavirus testing, Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), one of the negotiators, told reporters.

In addition to the new funds, another $9 billion from the $2.2 trillion CARES Act in March will be designated for testing.
