Not official yet, but it looks like ASP has met the requirements to be on the ballot in Wisconsin, according to an announcement in the facebook group.

I really wonder if the Libertarians do actually start to make real gains as Gen Z begins voting. They are pretty Libertarian friendly, even if there’s a large segment of them that Lean Democratic.

They'll take a chunk of the Republican-leaning electorate in the age group, which is much smaller than the Democratic electorate. Your typical young libertarian voter (in my personal experience, not saying it's exhaustive) is usually either someone who grew up wealthy/upper middle class and doesn't understand why people worry about paying for healthcare, or, weirdly, a lot of people in the military who also don't have to worry about healthcare or college and thinks cutting government waste won't apply to them. Also your random gems who think abolishing the ATF/child labor laws/minimum wage is a good idea. I see their ceiling as 5-10%. Most young people are either progressive or liberal.

How can you talk about the reasons young people vote libertarian and not include weed and foreign wars?

Only third party candidates for Presiddnt to file in VA were Jorgensen and West, and both made the ballot.

Currently, it seems as if Hawkins/Walker will get on some 30-35 state ballots + DC and achieve write-in-status in 10 or so others. They only failed completely in a few states, such as SD.

Filing for write in status is absurdly easy almost everywhere if you actually try (the fact that Kanye West hasn't bothered to file for write in status anywhere he's not on the ballot indicates how little he cares about this campaign), and Hawkins is trying that. The only states he COULD miss write in access are the states which flat out don't allow write in voting.

For write-in you need a volunteer to be an elector for each electoral vote, to fill out a form and get it notarized.  COVID has made that more difficult, esp for candidates without an already existing infrastructure.

There was some ASP Twitter drama this past weekend, past members grousing about alleged party purges and extremists going in. Most people aren't aware of it though, and it seems very inside baseball.
I’m wholly unsurprised by this. Still, may you give more details with links.

Long-ass thread here

Well, I suppose we will see if the American Solidarity Party survives this with its current rhetoric. BRTD must be livid right now about this news.

I'd read something that they once selected their board with approval voting thinking it'd be a more holistic approach. You can imagine how that went, each side only voted for themselves, more conservatives were present, and they got all the seats. 1 of the conservatives removed himself in the interest of party unity for a moderate to get on the board. They dropped approval voting after that.

Ironically, prior to that election, some of the more socially conservative faction were pushing for dropping approval voting in favor of RCV, but the board which was then predominately from the more liberal faction didn't find it necessary.
