Well that's the least painful England exit I've seen in quite a long time. In fairness, I've only ever heard the slightly less dubious claim that America is the oldest democracy on Earth, which is still only true based on a narrow (and biased) definition and ignoring the fact that blacks were considered property and women couldn't vote.
