All this looting and burning is complete BS.
Why are they doing this?
Local, everyday people have jobs at these places, and stores of different kind are beginning to open-up. Now they have no jobs and income.
And places like Target have been providing important essentials for people since the Pandemic, but now that mad-people looted the entire store, leaving it in shambles, it will be closed for some time.
They are destroying their own neighborhoods and harming their own neighbors.

I would be willing to bet that very few of the looters actually give a hoot about police brutality. They are poor and violent and they are using the police killing as a justification for their psychopathic behavior. The protesters and the looters are not the same group of people. If they were, they would be attacking government buildings and not private businesses.

Where are some good Roof Koreans when you need them?

The officers were fired and it is being handled by the FBI. This seems to be being handled appropriately so far. This isn't a western, we have a legal system, after a killing you shouldn't just hang the perpetrator at dawn.

Destroying buildings that provide people with vital supplies now when they are scarce isn't going to bring Floyd or anyone else back to life. It's also pretty glaring that people on the far left who were calling people "murderers" for not following social distancing regulations are now completely fine with this.
I am not fine with this. For the record, these protestors need to be punished for breaking the rules. They should be fined heavily at the very least.

I too support "heavily fining" people whose average net worth is probably a debt in excess of four figures

I understand that when people are desperate people will do anything and there certainly is a trend of police brutality, but it's hard to reconcile burning down a bunch of businesses with that.

While I agree that burning a bunch of business helps no one in the end.
I definitely get why so many people are angry and frustrated over this in the first place

Recently I was in a situation where I was being Racially profiled for being a Young Black Male

A Few days ago I went to Walgreens with my brother
I had purchased the items that I wanted and left the store but since my brother had the car keys I decided wait outside for him. There was also a white homeless guy who had already been sitting out their for while So I talked to him just to past the time until my brother came out of Walgreens

Next thing I know
A manger comes outside of the store and ask me if there is a problem because apparently a white woman saw me and thought I was up to no good simply by standing outside and waiting for my ride to get of the store lol

I told the manger what the situation was and he was cool about it.

I handled the situation calmly but in the back of my mind there was a lot of frustration.
This woman said nothing about the Poor white guy who was standing outside of Walgreens for long time yet when I waited outside for 4 minutes that was enough time for her to suddenly fear for her safety.

Its moments like that sadly remind me that there really is a negative perception among some that Young black man are all Dangerous thugs who are always up to no good

If this woman felt this way about me simply because I stood outside at Walgreens for 4 minutes.
I can only imagine what armed cops who think just like her must be feeling the second they come across A young Black male....

Wow, finally cops begin to realize that a life matters more than corporate profit margin. So long as that life is a fellow cop, of course.

Yeah. Like, looting is wrong regardless of the race of the looters but at the very least I totally get why minorities might be frustrated enough to act out in this way. But if you look at ths video footage in Minnesota a hell of a lot of the looters are white. I have no sympathy for them and don't buy that the looting was anything but an exploitative opportunity for them. Its just like the Silent Sam riot at UNC where a mob of mostly white students tore down a civil war veterans monument as though they were somehow oppressed by it. Had it been a predominantly black mob at least it would be understandable, but it was like all twiggy white sjw types kicking the downed statue as though it had taken their lunch money. These self righteous mobs of white activists should be where condemnation is  largely directed.

So what are the chances the cop walks? 90%? 95%?

That’s disappointing.

What's "disappointing" about it?
They need to restore order, and not have fires everywhere.
I mean, it's disappointing they have to do it, but it's a necessity before nightfall (is this what you mean?)

Noooo. It's smaller than that.
Not sure about the other 3, but the one with his knee into the victim's neck is going to get-it.

The such-and-such-title of the department just gave a presser at CNN.

In response to a question about whether charges will be filed against the offending officer(s), he began by giving the cookie-cutter "I can't make a judgment here on the spot" answer.  Fine.

But he followed it up with something to the effect of "what happened in the video is horrendous, but there also may be evidence that renders it unnecessary for to charges to be filed."

Even if that is the case, it was the wrong thing to say.  People are pretty universally angry right now.

Trumpian levels of stubborn denial here.

Let it be known to all business owners and innocent civilians that cops would rather watch burning and looting than admit to any wrongdoing.

Like, seriously? What **evidence** could possibly justify the officer's actions (or his fellow officers' inaction)?

Honestly, this guy might have to go, too. PDs and DAs need a good, thorough purge.

This is reminiscent of Daryl Gates.

They should immediately empanel a grand jury to evaluate the alleged mitigating evidence. Hopefully they'd still indict. That takes it out of the DAs hands and frees him from having to make the decision of whether or not to prosecute.

He's claiming now that he misspoke.

And that what he meant was look at all evidence before filing charges including evidence that wouldn't support a charge. Not to imply there's exonerating evidence.

But that's ONE HELL OF AN AWFUL MISSPEAK.

This is reminiscent of Daryl Gates.

He did face a reformist opponent in 2018 who he beat narrowly. Only candidate I voted for who lost.

But at his age I'm betting he'll just retire in 2022 anyway.
