That's why Romney needs at least 2 balanced conservative candidates against him in 2012 primaries, in order to split the vote and win "a la McCain" (I mean, in results, not in ideas).

That's why Jindal postponing his bid to 2016, Sanford almost out, Gingrich not sure at all are good news for Romney.
Huck may be a real impediment, especially if he stays in the race as in 2008.
And Pawlenty may appeal more throughout the GOP than his current conservative credentials may let us think.

But Romney may be saved by early attempts from Thune and Cantor, trying to be in place for 2016 by showing themselves in 2012. These 2 can hurt Huck: Cantor in the South (especially in the early SC primary), Thune just by being younger and fresher than old Huck...

Romney can be a conservative Republican in order to win the nomination, then, once he has the nomination, he can become a moderate, with conservative principles, in order to appeal to conservatives, moderates, and independents.

That's a nice acceptance of the primary reason why people hate Romney.

I disagree.  Romney is in it to win.  Everything he has ever done in life he has been in it to win.  One cannot win the Presidency with the conservative Republican vote alone.  A Republican must appeal to conservtives, moderates, and independents, in order to win the Presidency.  It's just smart politics.  After all is said and done, should Romney become the nominee, and I am not overly certain he will be nominee, but if he is, he will nail down the vast share of the conservative vote, so, to win, he will then have to go after moderates and independents.

The problem within the Republican Party is that the conservative element has too much clout in choosing the nominee.  They tend to want a down the line conservative, thereby eliminating any chance they have of winning the Presidency.  That's why the Republican party needs a candidate of Romney's credentials and caliber.

Romney's entire persona is that of a shyster. It depends on which opportunity is knocking. Liberal against Ted Kennedy, moderate running for governor, conservative running for president

WHo gives a damn what the moralfags think!

And people here say I'm out of line.

Right.

Also, if you were so socially liberal and politically correct , you would have excluded fags from your post.

Walking contradiction, you are.

Palin's not gonna run in 2012 anyway, so this poll is insignificant.
