The Jackson canidacy would have derailed Carter's campaign, as would that of Reagan. Ford, a largely liberal Republican, would have no problem turning voters in the North away from Reagan, same as with Reagan having little trouble in the South doing the same to Ford. Jackson would be competitive throughout the North, giving Ford all of its electoral votes. At the same time, voters in the South would probably prefer Reagan over Jimmy Carter, especially if he were to make the same mistakes on the campaign trail he did in OTL.
