Radio here is reporting a bomb blast in Jakarta - may have flattened The Marriott...

Don't have any further details yet.

Lunar's over there, and I have another friend over there, too. Hope they're okay.

What's the reaction over there?

EDIT:

Almost forgot.  My sincere condolences to the families all those cravenly murdered in these atrocities, and my hopes that those responsible for these despicable acts are swiftly brought to justice.

The news here is covering it nonstop.  Not sure how else to measure the reaction.  Looks like mostly Indonesian workers were killed...  they say only two dead foreigners have been identified so far.

Crossing my fingers that this crap stays in Jakarta though.  If it's island-wide, I could be screwed Smiley

Alas, they were suicide attacks almost certainly.

Normally I'm in Salatiga, a town in central Java with almost no white people, but I'm in vacation and interviewing some folks in Yogyakarta, the second most popular tourist destination in Indonesia.

Went searching for some underground comics today [i'm so cool], my taxi driver called the terrorists "orang gila" -- crazy people, the term you'd use for people who belong in mental hospitals.  I think that's the general consensus of Indonesians about such folks.
